Ahh, I figured out how to fix my Safari (it crashed before even opening). I just copied a working copy of it from the updated iMac downstairs. :D

My favorite thing about Safari 3 is the search function. The ability to resize text fields and drag-and-drop tabs is also really nice, even nice enough for me to switch back from Camino!

Lo, another chapter in the deepening suckage of OS X updates. I guess with all its financial woes, Apple can't afford to do any testing. :p

Staying at 10.4.9 here. My MBP is purring, so why light its tail on fire?

Financial woes, I assume you're being sarcastic? And you forgot "beleaguered".

Really? Gmail still looks the same to me and I still don't have my chat buddies listed. Is there a setting I need to change?

I've been able to use gchat since the atleast the last version of Safari 2... and it seems to be working just as well in the latest Safari 3 (the final).

how can i check if i've got any plugins installed?

mm

*hugs 10.4.11 so so so tightly*

Everything is just working much better for me now

Mail Not Loading Graphics

Installed 10.4.11.

Mail now displays a small blue square with a "?" inside. No graphics. What can be done?

Safari seem sluggish

I just installed 10.4.11.
I haven't really notice any changes except that I can use google chat in the browser now.

The annoying thing is that there seems to be a 3-4 sec lag time whenever i
1) try to create a new window in safari.
2) click on a text field.
3) type something in the text field.

I don't know if anyone has experienced something similar but this is driving me nutz.

I am using CoreDuo 2GHz MB w/ 2GB Ram.

Click the large button on top of the image saying Load Images?

Or go into Mail preferences -> Viewing and check the Display remote images in HTML messages (which is a bad idea, since it makes you much more likely to end up on spam-lists).

"Little Snitch" Did It

Preferences already set as you suggest. I turned off "Little Snitch" and images display perfectly. I read the network interaction in HTML.

Who woulda thunk?

Bad update for me

Ever since installing this update i've noticed an overall system slowdown. My wireless never gets full bars anymore and Safari is slooooow now. Might have to do a fresh install but so far me and 10.4.11 aren't happy buds....at all

hi everyone,

is there anyone crashed while installing the update, then made an archive&install and following this, succeeded to install the update properly?

off, i hated this update, and what the hell are all these problems.. anyone knowing why?

I'm off to the apple store today. After trying an install/archive (which failed!), there may be something more sinister going on.

I think 10.4.11 killed my Carbon Copy Cloner back-up tasks. When I plug in my external I get a warning stating "target drive is not available" or something like that. I'm pretty sure it's nothing I've done b/c I haven't touched CCC since setting it up to back-up all media files immediately upon connecting the external.

Anyone else having the same problems?

Hi,
Not trying to annoy anyone who has had issues with this update but mine installed perfectly. A complete non-event really!

I did a full backup using Super Duper and then just went for the update. Came back a while later and rebooted and had a bit of a delay with the spinning clock symbol just after the apple logo where I guess it does some post install stuff and then just logged on as normal. Everything seems to work fine.

Good job Apple, you've (apparently) fixed the iMac freezing issue and released 10.4.11 all in the last week - please feel free to take a break on Monday and get some sun! ;)

Anyone who's having problems, I hope you get them fixed real soon.
Regards,
Craig.

Well it has knocked out my Airport which was working PERFECTLY before the update. I can't stream my iTunes to our stereo via AirMac any more:mad:

Turned my 2 gig ppc imac into a freeze machine, I get 2 minutes at most then freeze. Tried to reinstall 10.4 and died. I might as well be on windows....
Nothing but problems on ppc machine but seems to be a non-issue on my new intel mbp.

Palm LifeDrive again supported in "Drive Mode"

One more report. One of the earlier 10.4.x updates broke support for some Palm Pilots (and many other USB storage devices). Well, 10.4.11 again sees my Palm LifeDrive with the Palm in "Drive Mode".

Snappier!

Not only have I found that Safari seems to be snappier (the beta 3 was really getting to be very sluggish and slowed my whole system down), but memory bleeds must have been plugged, too, since free memory now remains in the much higher numbers. Keep up the good work, Apple!

I imagine this is actually true.

The final version of Safari 3 is more responsive faster than the beta, both in load times and startup times. Yes, to be expected, but still nice.

DVDs make it crash

I was watching a DVD of Robot Chicken. The disc was playing for about 2 hours and when I tried to quit DVD Player, everything was frozen except the mouse. The DVD continued playing but I could not make anything on the screen respond. No force quit, no eject, no volume, nothing. I did a clean install of 10.4.11 just a few days ago, so very few custom apps. SMC Fan Control is one.

This has happened twice. I'll try to repeat tonight to see how long it takes to hang.

I should have stayed at 10.4.8. It worked great.

A system slowdown for me as well (MacBook). I do get full bars on wireless though, and Safari seems to be running at the same speed. Not that I use it much, my primary browser is Firefox.

But, after this update, some apps wouldn't start until I had shutdown and restarted my Macbook. Now, I believe I have a noticeable system slowdown.

Sadly, Yahoo Messenger Beta 3.0 or whatever it's called still doesn't seem to scroll down correctly with Safari 3.0. Fat chance of Yahoo ever fixing it on their end, I guess and now I guess not on Apple's end either. That basically makes Yahoo Messenger useless on the Mac unless you go back to an older version (which I also have installed, but Tiger complains every time I quit it that it 'suddenly quit' so I assume something is buggy their also).
