I find it hard to upgrade from iPad Pro 1st gen. What would wow us to upgrade. People are starting to slow down upgrade pattern.

Gorgeous new design
Lighter and thinner
Faster processors
More RAM
Support for the new and improved Apple Pencil 2
True Tone displays across all screen sizes
Faster wireless technologies

Basically Apple will take everything that currently makes iPad Pro the world's most powerful super computer, and they will make all of it better.

I'll be lining up to upgrade on day one. These will be no-brainer upgrades for most people.

If you haven't ditched your Mac yet for an iPad, this will be the year that you do make the switch.

Can you tell I'm excited? ;)

If the new models won't be ready until June, surely this is better announced at WWDC?

The iPad mini doesn't make sense anymore with the increasing sizes of the phones. Four iPad sizes is just goofy.

That's your opinion, but I think you'll find that many disagree. There's still quite a noticeable difference between a large phone and a small tablet.

I hope the good news here is that if there is some crazy new design for the 10.5, hopefully the 12.9 is getting it as well (previously it sounded like only the 10.5 was getting the new design).

If they will continue to release just faster chips they will be going the way of the BlackBerry. Thats what RIM did, they had this safe haven they were so scared to bring something new so much that they got way back the competition with their 2007 OS and slowly died in the background.

Innovation is in the software not the hardware Tim, if Jobs did what you are doing then we would still be running OS 9 on intel i7. But Tim, unlike Jobs, does not care about innovation or technology, he is a bean counter like Steve Balmer.

I really want the 10.5 Pro :D Do we know anything regarding the march event date? Last year it was on 21st but the years before it was in the beginning of march. I hope it will be in the beginning of march because I want to know whats coming even when the new iPad's will only ship in may/june.

I don't think Apple intends to show off the 10.5" iPad Pro at the rumoured March event, it makes no sense to upstage the iPhone 8, so I think it's possible iPads will be announced in September alongside the iPhone 8. Also why only change the bezels and remove the home button on the 10.5" why not do it on the 12.9" as well? they are both that flagship models.

I have always felt it was foolish to cram all your product releases into the later half of the year. A consumer might baulk at buying both an iPhone and an iPad at the same time, but spread them apart (i.e.: iPad in the 1st half, iPhone in the second) and he won't feel the pinch as much.

That is true, but will they really announce the new design of the 10.5" iPad Pro before the iPhone 8? when the design cues are the same, the home button and edge to edge display is also rumoured for the iPhone 8. It's possible that we could see the iPad Pro 12.9" with an update and the mini updated at the March event, but the 10.5" is kept until September. But then again i also think it's very un-Apple like to announce a new colour to the iPhone 7 (in this case red) part way through the year, so maybe Apple are planning a new strategy?

I really do not hope the 10.5 comes in september, if so I will have to wait again for a new ipad :/ I sold my old mini and I won't buy the old model know. It is the good old "waiting for skylake macbook pro" for the ipad all over again...

A new colour would be an excellent to help make the iPhone feel fresh and stabilise sales even when it is already midway through its refresh cycle.

I admit this seems unlikely, but I am tired of the iPad always playing second fiddle to the iPhone (even as I acknowledge that Apple is justified in focusing most of its resources on their golden goose).

I could be wrong I'm only guessing, even if we do see them at an event in March they are rumoured to be delayed until May - June time anyway.

It's possible, and yea but the iPhone is their best selling device and i can't see them upstaging that with the iPad before hand. It's going to depend on what's announced at the rumoured March event, for me if the 12.9" is just a small spec update i might just keep my current first gen 12.9" iPad Pro.

The 10.5 inch iPad Pro doesn't seem like much of an upgrade over the 9.7 inch, besides having an edge to edge screen and being less than an inch bigger.
What do you expect an upgrade to be? It's a rectangular piece of multitouch glass. What would "sound" like an upgrade to you? A jetpack so you can fly with it?

New screen, new A10X, hopefully at least the double-pinned Lightning port from the 12", updated Touch ID... Sounds like as big an update as any other.

Who gives a crap? I want to replace my 2011 quad core mac mini please.

Tens of millions of people a year at least. Which is more than you could say for your Mac Mini (which I'd like to see upgraded too, but your implications on consumer interest are way off).
