Mhhhh, at that time, one could argue that there was ample room for 2 separate product lines iPad and MacBook (both being the best in their category, prone to become the market champs by then)
But now, with stagnating iPad sales, coinciding with a new generation that grew up with iPads and don't want to give up multi-touch but need MacBook functionality, times have changed.
As industry leaders, they now are obliged to take bold action and define new markets instead of milking the aging cows. But it doesn't happen.
In terms of courage: Jobs didn't need courage. He was an agressor by himself. He didn't defend market share because he invented new markets (/segments).
Courage is needed to take bold decisions where risk is involved. Timmy doesn't like that. That makes him defensive, as an incumbant. He basically ended product orientation, introducing minnovation (minimal innovation) disproportional to numbers of patents, design & engineering talent, and R&D expenditures. Just embarassing to see them big leaders getting "excited" by TouchBar/Airpod/Watchband gimmickery and refurb designs.
Instead of "cleaning the mess", they spiritually killed the company.
