Around two years ago I was at Best Buy and saw the screen on whatever the Galaxy S was back then and was blown away by how beautiful it looked. Maybe in the next four years or so (not exaggerating) Apple can make it to where the Galaxy was back then.

*I'm not looking for an argument*
That Pentile OLED screen was terrible for reading text, and suffered from retention. Hopefully, Apple does NOT make it look like that.

Ok, this is the strangest rumour yet. In addition to the resolution used on the 7.9"/9.7" and 12.9" iPads, this would be a 3rd unique resolution. I feel like many apps still don't take advantage for full screen on the 12.9", I can't see many developers spending time to make their apps work with this new resolution.

Unless something different is happening. Increased real estate to support something else while an app is open? Now I'm really curious to see what's going on.

Not understanding why they'd bother with 9.7", 10.5", and 12.9" models. I guess if they'd drop the 9.7" it makes sense. If not, what's the big difference between the 10.5 and the 9.7?

Updated iPad Mini would be nice. Basically a speed bump with better sound and pencil support. There are still buyers for that.

Thank heaven for daughters (and sons). Ours is going to get her dad's 9.7" Pro whenever they become abundant enough to actually purchase as opposed to seeing them on Apple's site with a "coming in three months" notice after the initial preorder amount of 130 sells out. ;) He and I are going to be waiting for the 10.5" one.

Our minis will continue to be used. I use minis until they can barely work anymore. I have only minis so nobody is getting my minis!

I will, however, also keep an eye out for how things go with the new Samsung tablets announced yesterday. They are probably not the right match for me, but I like to keep apprised of the options.

Let's add grandchildren, although from what I see they get "FLOODED" with gifts these days at any occasion.
Anybody who wants to do something for their grandchild should contribute to a UGIFT account instead.
Toys can not be cashed in at great value later to keep college expenses reasonable.

UGIFT proceeds can.

To me a 'low cost iPad' will be an iPad Air 2 with an A9X chip in it (i.e. old cameras - 1.2/8MP, no smart connector, no truetone screen, 2 speakers). Mind you, for most people that's plenty!

"Four new iPad Pros"

So can we just go back to calling them "iPads" now?
It's all kinds of wrong but I like to think of them as Maxi Pad, Mini Pad, Super Overnight, and Regular Pad.

I'm a woman, so Apple's naming conventions do not fluster me. Women deal with A cup, B cup, C cup, D cup (and above) in sizes 32-38 (and above). So we have to figure out if we are a 32-A, 34-A, 36 B, 36-C and so forth. And even once we think we have that figured out, different manufacturers can make these sizes feel larger or smaller than expected. Don't get me started on clothing sizes, shoe sizes (for men and women).

I WILL figure out which IPad I want and I WILL get it. Just don't expect that my bra is going to be fitting me properly while I'm picking out my iPad.

I definitely like my iPad pro better than my 13" MacBook Pro for most things. But I like my PC with an i7 and Nvidia 1080 much better than any of Apples desktops. Too bad Apple and Nvidia can't get together and produce a driver for the Pascal platform, not that there is a Mac that can use it.

I wish the Apple pencil was ubiquitous, I always thought that was Apples strength.

I know I don't speak for everyone but I'm so bored of iPad.
Me as well. I don't see what the use for tablets are anymore for the majority of people. Its far easier to use a laptop in almost every circumstance. I travel with a macbook pro and a 9.7" ipad pro for testing of apps. I can't tell you the last time I opened up the iPad. Well, I did use it as a hotspot for the laptop a couple weeks ago. That's about it.

Aesthetically I like the idea of much smaller side bezels, but I wonder how easy it would be to hold without causing problems with multi touch. I know the sw has algos to help with this, but it needs more work. I would love it to have the same design as the iPhone SE where there is also a bottom edge to grip.

The 10.5 will have the same 2,732×2,048 resolution as the current Fat Pad. That way developers will be enticed to develop software for that resolution as users upgrade from the 9.7 to the 10.5, increasing saturation of that resolution. The 10.5 having a higher PPI will be akin to the mini having a higher PPI than the current 9.7.

I had an older iPad. Big one. Was given to me. I played with it for a little bit and watched a few movies on it. I didn't like holding it or looking at it. Too big & heavy & awkward. I gave it to someone else. That's right. It was worthless to me (sat in a drawer for months on end) and I didn't even want one for free. Never wanted to turn it on again.

The iPhone Plus sized phones on the other hand (with a loopy case) are awesome.

If Apple built a 2-in-1, then I'd be happy. Especially one that ran iOS in tablet for (with full pencil support), and macOS in laptop form.

Heck I'd even take an iOSBook that ran nothing but iOS, as long as Apple gave it filesystem and mouse support.

In that case, thinner would be better.

But until then I agree, an iPad is nice for creatives/artists and a Mac for everyone else.

Alas, Apple will ALWAYS want you to have both.

Steve Jobs said the tablet would eventually replace PCs for the majority and it felt like that was happening at first, but since he died the tablet had kinda stalled. It just feels like a big smartphone, still not capable of really replacing a PC.

Oh and Apple should really stop with the fragmentation. Don't they learn?

If the new 10.5" has the A9x chip, with the lower Rez, then it should perform very well. As my Pro 12.9" that I'm typing on now, has that chip with its higher Rez, and performs very well, that would be a good match.

But I'm really looking forward to the new 12.9" model with the DCI-P3 screen. The A10x should also make it zing along.

Funny, I had the opposite experience! Weird.
