I'm happy about this. I find text on the iPad Mini too small. I would rather have it at the same density as the current model

The iPad Pro line is the only Pro line where customers actually care about thinner, lighter, faster. Why is Apple perfectly willing to embrace "thinner, lighter, faster" with its Pro line of desktops and laptops when Pro consumers of these lines don't want it but can't be bothered with the iPad line where constomers actually do.

Maybe to Apple, a thinner, lighter laptop is a better laptop and they are hoping that this will be enough to attract a new category of users. One who desires the form factor and horsepower of the 15" MBP but find the weight and bulk a deterrent?

Apple REALLY needs to start cleaning house with their product line, not add to it. As much as I love options, I really adored the simplicity of knowing there was ONE size iPhone and iPad that had all the latest features in it. I miss the days of easily recommending an Apple product to someone without having to explain the difference between Pro, Plus, Mini, SE, etc. etc.

I hope that the 10.5" iPad is actually just a 9.7" form factor with a near bezel-less display (I measured, and there's a little over 11" of room to work with on the current iPad Air 2). I think this is actually the most likely scenario, and would line up with this rumor pretty well as far as it sharing the same pixel density as the 9.7"

I wonder if it will be heavier. My current iPad Air 2 is amazingly light and near perfect. Same weight as the 9.7 Pro.

I hope they don't make it thicker and heavier.

Perhaps not thicker, but even if it was heavier do the different internals or a larger battery, I would be fine with that. Even if it was a little thicker with a bigger battery, I don't think most would complain if It had additional battery life.

You can get side by side tabs in safari on the iPad Pro. Other apps it may work well but wouldn't it be down to the developer as well?
It is also available in safari on the air2 and I use it from time to time. But since the iPad currently does not allow to work simultaneously on 2 docs from the same app, I think it is one of the major area where iOS is lacking and IMHO it is a pretty elegant way to do it.

Apple already introduced tabs everywhere with Sierra, and they said dev don't need to rework their apps. I am not a dev, though, so may be one can confirm or infirm this (I assume the App has to use auto layout).

I have a feeling with this launch they'll drop the 9.7. The lineup may go 7.9, 10.5, 12.9 that should cover all sizes especially if there is a 5.8 iPhone

the 9.7" pro price seems very low. If its still a pro because of the pencil compatibility, then it makes the current pro seem massively overpriced.

Also won't the new resolution be a PITA for devs?

It sounds like the March/April iPad Launch will be the first one held at the new Apple Park !
exciting...... anyone have a spare ticket?

A PPI of 264 is waaaay too low in 2017. 326 PPI like the iPhone and iPad mini is decent enough.

You hold the iPhone and even the iPad mini much closer to your eyes than a 10.5 iPad. For me a 326 PPI 10.5" ipad is stress to the eyes and very annoying...

It is interesting that a company which has a proud heritage of embracing simplicity has increasingly complicated product lineups.

Maybe it’s the pro-consumer road to take - not trying to fit every round peg into four square holes. But I find it confusing.

That was Steve Jobs apple. Tim Cooks Apple is "Only update the iPhone every year, and find some way to raise prices on everything by $100 or more

Its time for a new OS, its not 2006 any more. You don't see anyone still using Symbian or PalmOS anymore.

May be apple can introduce two scales on iPad like it is done on iPhone ?

The hardware doesn't need much help, it's iOS that has to get better on iPad - right now it's iPhone-caliber literally "phoning it in" on the tablet form factor.[/Quote) iPad Pro needs to have a model run on OS X like Microsoft has Windows 10 running on its tablets.

An iPad Pro for just $299 could convince me to buy me an iPad... again.
It won' t be a pro. No smart connector, no pencil support for $299. It will be an air 2, with updated soc(a9/x) and perhaps camera without the 4 upgraded speakers of the pro models. It will be a budget model, perhaps ipad se?
