And why would they feel bad if their Mac Pro is performing the job they purchased it for and will continue to perform that job for years to come? It can be upgraded in many ways to increase performance. So I don’t understand your missive. Do you?
because as far as business deduction goes, it never gets deducted to the absolute 0, my maxed out 14inch was deducted the full amount but at the end of the year it still comes out to above 2k.

A ridiculous headline. Not everyone needs to pay top dollar for the latest stuff. Often an older device for less money will be perfectly suitable.
Those older devices don't become less money until they release the new ones, which I think is the point of this headline. Dont go buy a brand new phone so its outdated in a month. Wait for the sales or get the new one

The other side of the token is that the do not buy list is probably / has been on sale because of the upcoming announcement. So if you don't mind with at least that last model, then some could save money.

Tzzzz no buy for the iPhone 13 Pro… iPhone 14 won’t have the Sierra blue most likely 🤣 who cares for other „features“???

True, but most of these devices will soon drop further in price once a new version comes out.

The point is that buying these products would be paying top dollar for stuff that is about to be replaced by a new model. In other words, soon these products will become the "older devices for less money" that you are talking about. So if you don't want to pay top dollar for something that is soon to be replaced, don't buy it now. That is good advice.

The Mac mini is the Model T of Apple. No need to change anything on the outside. Can anyone image Tim Cook saying "With the new plexiglass cover we have reduced the recyclability of the device. We are so proud of what the team has achieved"?
The only change that I hope for, is a processor which allows me to run two 5K displays.

Honestly, I’m really considering purchasing a pair of AirPods Max.
Had the pros for three years, the ear tips always have hurt me, and I’ve gone through three pair of them because they keep breaking. The current set I have barely have noise cancellation, it barely works. I’ve switched to using third gen standard AirPods 99% of the time, and only using the pros when I’m in a car or an airplane or public transportation.
Only thing holding me back is the possibility of them introducing a pair that can do lossless, and the fact I’ve heard a lot of people have reliability issues with them, just like the pros.
But I’m really thinking about getting a pair of open box ones that are like $175 off

Bought an iPhone 13 for my wife 2 weeks back, got an excellent discount as part of Independence Day offering in India. I guess the same will stand for iPad Pro which is going to remain a very powerful tablet(hardware wise) even if the new one comes with M2. No reason not to buy in case you need the product and the price is good.

I think a AW7 might be worth a purchase, but only if it’s heavily discounted.

Wait and see if the AW8 features are worth it. Then decided whether or not to return the 7.

I plan to upgrade my 11” iPad Pro (I use it for a very specific task and I really enjoy using the iPad platform) and this might be a minor update but I don’t want an OLED iPad because I’m not sure how my eyes will adapt. AFAIK this could be the last hardware refresh without OLED.

On the other hand, my Mac mini from 2014 is not getting more software updates, so I don’t know if I will get a second hand M1 Mac mini, with good specs (at least 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage) or maybe I’ll wait for a future M3 Mac mini, hopefully with a smaller body.

i'm a business owner and if i bought a 12k-25k mac pro that got beat out by the new AS by fraction of its price, i would feel pretty bad lol
LOL.
Tech changes too frequently. Sometimes you buy when you really need something 'at that moment' to do and finish your job.
But the point is, business owners can deduct those items whereas non-business owners, like the average iPhone user, can not as it's a personal expense.
But that's also a cash flow issue not just a tax related issue.

Brings back memories of the Mac IIvx. Discontinued shortly after introduction--replaced by faster, cheaper machines--the Mac IIvx made a lot of Apple users bitter. Back in then, we called getting blindsided by Apple this way being IIvx'ed.

I was sooooo glad I'd been waiting and working extra hours, saving up the cost difference between the Iivx and the Quadra 700 when the Centris 650 was announced.. The money I'd saved up went into more ram (16MB upgrade for a total of 24MB!) and a SyQuest drive (My introduction to SCSI voodoo)..

Good times..

But 14-16" MBP are a go?..

Based on my past experiences, and considering that my Mom is about to buy a M1 Pro 14" MBP to replace her 2012 13" MBP, I'd say wait exactly 2 more months and get the M2 Pro 14/16 MBP, if you don't have a pressing need and/or a Mac as old as hers'?

oh i know, i had to buy a maxed out 64gb m1 max 14inch pro for a new job, after deduction i'm still paying 2k out of pocket. my point is, even though businesses gets deductible, the fact that owning a 5 figure machine that gets outpaced so quick for so much cheaper is still a bitter pill to swallow.

I'm confused. Why would Apple drop the iPhone 12 when they're still selling the iPhone 11 right now? I thought they've been selling the two previous iPhone models for a few years now?
Well, having the iPhone 13 and 13 mini on the lineup, makes sense to drop the 12 and 12 mini, as the 13 models are just like the 12 but with much better battery life, cameras and such. It’s a good time to get rid of the 11 as well and clear the lineup of iPhones at sale:

- iPhone SE (A15, 4GB RAM)
- iPhone 13 mini (A15, 4GB)
- iPhone 13 (A15, 4GB)
- iPhone 14 (A15, 6GB)
- iPhone 14 Max (A15, 6GB)
- iPhone 14 Pro (A16, 6GB)
- iPhone 14 Pro Max (A16, 6GB)

That way, the lineup would begin with the A15 as a base SoC, and 4GB as the minimum amount of RAM.

I honestly can't wait for AppleWorks 7 to *finally* be released! ;-) Yes, yes, God, I'm old.. sigh.

Ipad pro 12… I’m starting to yearn…
😂😂😂
I almost went for an M1 but I try to keep my composure.
I pray some rumors turn out true: horizontal camera placement, apple pen 3 with sliding gestures, new magic keyboard with data transfer support.
Everything else is poetry… I don’t really care for.

Waiting on the M2 refresh of the Mac Studio. Using my PC for some giant projects at work and every day, every hour is a new papercut. And the Ryzen 7/3080Ti combo is heating up my room. Ready to NOT be annoyed using my computer again. I just need some extra GPU performance for that price point.
The Studio is quite new, so do not expect an upgrade to M2 soon. And the Studio to a small extent cannibalizes the much pricier top Macbook Pros, so Apple will likely wait a while after high end M2 MBPs come out - which has not happened yet.
