Jan 01, 00:00 we were actually referring to the financial year 2026/2027.
Apple said "in the coming year" when they were still in the 2024/2025 financial year, so no, they can't pivot to that interpretation. 🙂

I'm looking forward to further refinement of Liquid Glass. Hopefully they start injecting a bit of colour. iOS is still a bit too flat, and while Liquid Glass has brought a bit of life back to it, some more colour would help.

I don't use Siri, or any ridiculous chatbot, and I'm not about to, but I really want Apple to knock it out of the park so that everyone will finally shut up about it!

I'm not really sure why Apple would release a foldable phone annually at the same time as the regular phones. Spread them out about 6 months apart. September releases for the regular phones and March releases for the foldable.

September 2026 -- iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max.
March 2027 - iFold.

Consistency in product releases would be better.

Sept - Regular phones.
February - Macs and iPads
March - Foldable phone.

“Siri‌ will understand pronouns” - Also can’t wait for new rainbow wallpapers and new emojis!

Aah, if i could type! 😍

But the delicious irony aside?
The whole a-la Leopard 27 approach sounded wonderful; will grant that it was hinted, not verified, but given the number of sources stating it one had hopes. But now?

- A major "AI" undertaking?
+
- A major iOS overhaul for the iPhone fold? Just for one device, all that trouble?

I see more bugs popping, not fewer remaining.

We're fast approaching a point where 'normal' people will seriously just b**tch and whine 24/7.
Nothing new of use, even more issues to deal with for no reason whatsoever.

They won't do this, but the solution? A-la Microsoft approach;
LTSC/ESR call it what you will releases for normal people.
'insert super duper trendy name' releases for the masses requiring shiny and brand new pebbles, each and every month.
Perhaps then some reason would ensue. And normal people would have an incentive to keep buying newer Apple devices. More power if you want it, but sans the headaches.

I'm 100% Apple, but I have to day their AI has absolutely sucked! They've been saying for 2-3 years that it's going to be great only to crap the bed each time.

I’m not usually in the bug fixes or die crowd but the current keyboard issues are making me near homicidal
…I’m gonna kill my phone by throwing it lol
It's driving me bonkers too. My Mac works alright so I'm wondering it's an Apple Intelligence thing (still using 14 PM).

It seems clear that today Siri's back end is too weak. Making that back end more performant is a difficult scaling challenge. Hopefully the Siri improvements will largely be made via more on-device Siri performance.

Barely no features. From that list alone, satellite is the only real feature (Siri is late and doesn’t really count).

There’s a lot of things that are actually needed and they didn’t put in. So here’s hoping they come.

“Siri‌ will understand pronouns” - perfect, I hope it will understand when I ask it to set up a second timer too.

I agree that a lot of this is superficial. But the emojis are not up to them. They have to include what the Unicode Consortium sets forth.

These aren't items coming in iOS 27, just RUMORED to be coming. And the new Siri has shown no evidence of existing at this point. Really looks grim for the RUMORED features.

I remember back when for a short period of time Siri could search your photos. That’s what I want to come back, and it had nothing to do with artificial intelligence.

I think it’s quite possible Apple will go with “iPhone Ultra” as the name, since that fits well with their existing product naming conventions.

From a branding perspective, I doubt Apple would call it the “iPhone Fold.” Samsung already uses that term, and copying a competitor’s naming style would feel very un-Apple. If they did that, people would probably start jokingly calling it the “Snapple phone.”

Here are a few names that feel more in line with Apple’s branding than using the word Fold:
  • iPhone Flex
  • iPhone Duo
  • iPhone Ultra
  • iPhone Mix
Personally, I think iPhone Ultra, iPhone Duo, or iPhone Flex would make much stronger branding choices. But yeah, calling it iPhone Fold would be a bit of a disaster … hello Snapple.
