I didn’t know the color impedes the phones performance.

Edit: this is, obviously, sarcasm.
I understand that some colors are more suitable to a user than others, but if you’re choosing not to upgrade your 4 year old phone because the model you want isn’t available in the shade of dark you prefer, you don’t need a new phone.
Dislike this comment all you want, it’s true.

Exactly. Not buying a phone because the shade isn’t dark enough and too blue sounds like you don’t need a. Ew phone anyway. Most people don’t care about the color once they actually use the phone.

One has to wonder, with Apple's history, how long they have been gimping the Qualcomm modem in preparation for this release?
 
I’m still waiting on that foldable. Samsung is about ready to release a tri-fold in the US and Apple has nothing.
 
The "simplified" camera controls are a step backwards to save a few pennies. Going from a leading company on camera sensors to a so-so company on camera sensors also smacks of penny savings. Meanwhile, the dimensions continue to aspire to that of a toaster oven. If anything, the 18 sounds like a cost cutting downgrade managed by the CFO and supply chain cost savers rather than product people.

In previous years I bought one or two generation older phones than the current new one. Most recently I bought my iPhone 14 a month before the 15 was released. The only significant thing the 15 had was a USB-C port instead of lightning. Big deal. With smartphones and computer tech in general upgrades a usually incremental and don’t make the current model immediately obsolete.

Last year in October I bought a 2024 model car just as the 2025s were coming out. I not only saved money, but I disliked some of the changes made on the newer models, like losing the physical switchgear for climate control. So it was a real win.

Iphone 14 pro doesnt have raw compression on the images which makes them pretty hefty chonks in terms of storage req. but most peole don’t care about that. But your right other than usb c theres not much in post iphone 14 phones that compells an upgrade, espcially given the hefty chonk weight is matched by the current iphone 17pro rofl.

Only one I've seen is a coworkers 17 Pro Max, and it was only bought because she lost her previous iPhone on a trip to Mexico...and had no idea what model number for the new one is, or the model of the previous one (it was a 15 Pro Max).
