Hey everyone,

I thought it would be fun to see how long between the reports of dried up supplies and when the new models are launched was… Maybe it will help us all know how long it will be before we see the new Macbook Pro's at the Apple Store. Here is what I found:

If you can take anything from this, it seems like supplies started to get tight a week before the product has released, 2 weeks for the Mac Mini. Going off this information, I say we get new MacBook Pro's either Tuesday February 1 or Tuesday February 8. Let's hope I am right!!!

If you can find anymore for other releases of other devices, please add to the list.

Nice. I like the over motivated research. I thought I was excited about the refresh, you take it to a whole new level.

Two things here:
1 - I am bored
2 - Most importantly, I will not have a Mac after this friday and I will not have one until I either buy a MBA or MBP, but I want to see what the new MBP is like before I decide. HAHA

I like this. Even after initially reading the article today I still thought March-April - but this does gives new hope.

Did you do the detective work yourself?
Impressive if you did

HAHA Yes I did…. With the help of my sidekick, Google. Basically looked at the release dates and then googles for "Macbook Pro short supplies April 2010" or whatever. HAHA

Oh shoot. I thought it'd be another month at least, but it seems like a week or two is a decent time frame.

Wow!!! That was some serious research. Thanks!!!

I can't wait for the refresh!!! I love my iPhone and iPad.. Can't wait for my first Mac :D

The halo effect is pretty strong

If Apple updates within two weeks that would mean either:

1. Apple is using QC sandy bridge processors.
2. Getting DC processors early.

I think 1 would be more likely.

The previous post a few ways up cites a article from Jobs and supplies from 2010. However, one must remember intel was short on supplies itself that time around. This is NOT the case today. Like i said many times, you can check, Intels Otelini stated factory production for SB was increased greatly to meet demand. The long wait time due to supply shortage /1 month interval highly likely wont happen

Thanks!

Every time since these supply constraints are noticed I get all excited about what's gonna be new in the next refresh.
It saddens me to see my MBP get overthrown from most recent version and regret what I paid for it! Still... I'm always waiting for some new (worthy) thing. Increased resolution and SSD the MBP would be enough for me :p

Well it is only logical. With ho fast MacBooks sell how long did you expect things to say in stock? Most stores only stock for a month at most., some just 2 weeks.

And a bridge so sandy you could, erm, build sandcastles..

No more Core 2 Duo thanks.

True, that would be nice.
But I use my MBP daily for a lot of stuff, no video editing or CAD and it seems to go along pretty nice so it comes third on my list.
To be honest tough if it is just that I'll probably wait some months for the next refresh....

As far as I can tell Best Buy's 17" is the ONLY machine backordered?
Amazon has all units shipping next day? Other stores the same?

However I did notice yesterday that the refurb store on apple.com updated with a bunch of different machine available... could be a good sign?

I work in Currys UK (dont laugh) and with access to PC world and Currys stock file I can confirm shortages of 15" and 17" in our main warehouses (base models of both are showing as 0 available with no order due date). Still a few kicking about in superstores and they are allowing us to do forward orders, but stock is low.
13" model still has 300 or so still available in our central warehouse.
