This is not a wish list, this is what I predicted will be on the next iPhone.

New Notifications System
I think this will be the most talked about feature in iOS 5. Apple hired Rich Dellinger from Palm he invented WebOS notification system, I see an improvement coming.
http://forums.appleinsider.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=110266

New Maps
iOS is in need of upgrade with maps. Apple bought two mapping companies in the last year in a half Poly9 and Placebase.
http://forums.appleinsider.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=111348

Improve Voice Commands
The voice commands on iOS very limited when you compare what Android OS can do. Apple bought Siri

HSPA+
The iPhone 5, 4G, 4GS whatever you want to call it will support HSPA+

8MP camera
This rumor is almost a year old and they were correct saying the iPhone 4 was going to have an 5MP camera.
https://www.macrumors.com/2010/04/13/2011-iphone-to-sport-8-megapixel-camera-sensor-from-sony/

Dual core processor
There's reports saying the next iPhone will have a 1GHz or 1.2GHz dual core processor depending on what report you believe is correct. Since the iPad 2 coming out soon we'll find out what processor the iPhone will have.
https://www.macrumors.com/2011/01/30/ipad-2-screen-thinner-anti-reflective-1-2ghz-dual-core-cpu/

NFC
Not to be mistaken National Football Conference I'm talking about Near Field Communication. For those that don't know what NFC is this technology allows you to use your phones as a credit card.

8MP Camera would be nice, wouldn't be that great but still at least it would be able to take decent pics when without my camera. As for that the only thing that interests me is the dual core processor should make the phone faster and improve the battery life :D

I think that it'll be a small update like the 3G - 3GS (not LTE 4G, unfortunately; but I could be wrong, no, wait, I hope I'm wrong) so Verizon customers arn't annoyed. And, I think the big thing will be iOS 5, and the iPhone 6 will be the big hardware update, but iOS 6 will be a small update.

I'm quite interested in the whole 4G discussion with the iPhone 5, would they even bother releasing a 4G version in Europe and other places? Seems like only very few places even have 4G support at the moment.

Agree with you 100%.
People think the next iPhone upgrade will be minor (3G->3GS). I'd consider the 3GS a major upgrade, the chips inside were completely different than the 3G. But sure the aesthetics were the same.

I highly doubt the iPhone 5 will have the same look because of the bad publicity the iPhone 4 received due to the antenna issue.
Dual Core processors for iPhone? That itself will make it a major upgrade.
But yeah i agree the iPhone really lacks a proper notification system.
I'd also like to see a lockinfo-style editing to the lockscreen, or the spotlight screen.

My wish is a bigger screen, 3.7" would be nice. (without making the phone bigger)

may i ask what do you need more than 8mp for?

mp≠ better quality

Chances are it will be called the 4G and contain both HSPA+ and LTE. Verizon may have to wait untill next feb.

Instead of installing new chips and worrying about battery life they will probably turn up the juice of the A4 to a full 1GHz clockspeed which would give the dual core androids a run for their money. So expect an advertisement that iOS 5.0 update will make your iPhone faster.(w/ iPhone 4 only)

As for NFC I give a 25% likely that it may be a iPhone 5/4g exclusive like the compass.

all I really want is WebOS style notifications and digital zoom on the camera and I will be the happiest man alive.

then why did apple do boot camp on macs?

isn't there already digital zoom?

1. Macs and iPhones are completely different. I don't see this happening ever, and if it does happen i'm gonna give it a few more years.

2. I think he means more digital zoom

Re: camera, you have to remember. The more pixels you put in the same sized sensor the worse the noise/grain gets. This is why cellphone cameras have bad noise even in a slightly dark room. current MP is fine just increase the sensor size a hair.

I agree with the predictions. AWESOME list. I hope Apple does their maps over Google's tech. I think they could bring a lot to the table, but Google's maps and streetview cover just about everywhere. The NFC thing is HUGE. The camera improvement makes sense. All great predictions.

Quick Question

For the people that already own the iPhone 4, and the people that are going to buy the iPhone 4 on Verizon this year.

Will they be able to get the Notifications System and New Maps, if it is on iOS 5?

So, if I get the iPhone 4 on Verizon this month, and do a software upgrade later this year on my iTunes, I should be able to get the new Notification System and New Maps, right? Since those 2 are a software upgrade, and not a hardware...?

haha, yeah, like, x4... it'll look grainy, but having the option is better than none at all. It is all software afaik, so I don't think it would be too hard to implement, that and the iPhone's sensor is dank as hell.

New Notifications System
Don't care much, but they'll be in there.

New Maps
Would be nice.

Improve Voice Commands
The voice commands as they are, are a novelty at best. Every trying getting a particular song/artist to play? It's a crap-shoot at best.

HSPA+
meh

8MP camera
As others have said, improve the sensor first.

Dual core processor
Won't complain.

NFC
Nothing like adding technology that people won't be able to use predictably for 5 years. Meh.
