Seems like a lot of folks who have the 12.9" iPad Pro also have the iPhone 6+. I got my 12.9" Pro a few months ago, but still using an iPhone 4S currently. I do quite a bit of gaming, and I've found that the 12.9" Pro is just a bit too big for many games and also is heavy to hold. Because of this I've considered getting an iPad Mini to do gaming, but also considering that maybe the best idea is to upgrade to the 5.5" iPhone and then that should be great for gaming.

I'm going to wait until the fall and see what the iPhone 7 brings. I'm kind of hoping that the iPhone 7 retains the big screen size but somehow cuts down on the bezels just a bit. I like to carry my iPhone in my front pants pocket, and the iPhone 6+ is a bit tight and would not fit in some of my pants pockets. I'm hoping for a slightly smaller size overall, but with the same screen size.

I have been using the 12.9 iPad Pro exclusively since launch along with the iPhone 6s Plus, and I absolutely love it.

Tried to use my iPad Air 2 for an hour today because I wanted to preorder an iPad Pro 9.7, but it felt tiny compared to the pro.

I have iPhone 6, plus looked like too big to me as a phone, can't even fit into my pockets. I'm one of people who are interested into new SE, but I'll see when iPhone 7 come out which one I'd like to have more. At this moment I have mini 4 and I play games, read articles and Ebooks on it instead of wasting my cell phone battery to do so. Unless iPhone will have much more longer battery life, probably I won't give up iPad mini, also won't upgrade to iPhone plus size.

I think It's good thing Apple has many sizes on each kind of devices they sell, so people can choose size and what they want to have depends on their life style and needs.

In my case, iPhone 6 for cell phone/texting/quick search and map. Also use it when I'm in bed before I go to sleep, iPad mini is still big to me to bring into bed, since I just need to watch something until I fall asleep.
iPad mini 4 for reading and playing games, sometimes watching videos or movies or TV. Sometimes some doodling(with my finger since no Apple Pencil support at this moment).
iPad Pro 12.9" for working on digital drawings, editing/composing music, watch movies.

I think if you're good with carrying bigger size of iPhone, you are ok without mini.

I never understood why people say the 12.9 is too big for reading or watching movies in bed. I mean seriously, who would hold anything up in their hand to read or watch for longer than a few minutes? Have they never heard of propping the damn thing on a pillow? Or maybe using the Smart Cover or keyboard to prop it up as they were designed to do? Now reading on a train or subway when you may have to stand is a different story. But the bed issue sounds like whining to me...

Honestly I have to admit that my iPad seems to travel while its propped on a pillow or something else. I know it sounds crazy but it's true. I cannot find a good way to prop this thing up and watch a movie in my bed.

Aside from the pencil what additional functionality does the pro provide that the air 2 doesn't?
The size of the screen and the Smart Keyboard together make everything--reading, editing, writing, note taking, creating presentations--more satisfying and more efficient, especially in apps with split screen functionality. And organizing/editing images (I use Mylio) is a dream.

I got the IPP yesterday with the Keyboard and I love it. I find myself removing the cover if I'm just laying in bed using the IPP by itself. The origami functunality sucks haha...but as a Keyboard it's great.

Debating on whether or not to get the Pencil...what are some of the best Apps to use with it?

Depends what you'd use it for. Typically it's artistic apps but I use the pencil for:

1. note taking (Notability / OneNote)
2. Pdf markup (Goodreader / PDF expert)
3. Cursive writing (my son - various)
4. Hanzi and Kanji practice (various)

I read a lot of large textbooks so also find it useful for annotating a screen shot of something (graphs, diagrams, etc) whilst AirPlaying to AppleTV on a projector.

It's more versatile and functional than you think given the great wealth of apps.

I just purchased the 12.9 because of the deal Best Buy was offering for the wifi model.
I cannot hold it like the 9.7, it takes forever to charge with the 12w charger. The 29w charger is $49 and USB-c to lightning cable is another $35. If you want the extension power cord thats another $19.

Here's the thing. The real estate is amazing; using Word and Excel are usable with the 12.9. Editing pictures and videos is easier on the eyes.

The mini - extremely portability, great for a car trip, degrabbing coffee, decent readability.
9.7 - less likely to grab and go. Great for the bed, couch, kitchen and vacations
12.9 - definitely a work platform. If your wife wants you to be in the same room but you hate what she watches on tv, this is the iPad you want.

What's the deal with the better charger not being included with the iPad Pro 13 inch it's ridiculous why would they release a subpar charger and then charge for a charger that charges appropriately

charge (one more,time )

Did the new charger just come out or has it always been available and why wouldn't include in the box it's ridiculous

Based on the reviews the 29w has been out since April 2015 which coincides with the release of the MacBook with USB-c.

Charging brick $50, a cable $30+ and the extension power cord $19. All together it's more expensive than the 85w charger for the MacBookpro.

Apple probably had a huge inventory of 12w bricks.
The 12w is underpowered.

The 29w is the same size which brings me to the next point.
BestBuy is selling open box 29w bricks for $37.

******IF YOU PURCHASE A 29w OPEN BOX VERIFY IT IS A 29W BRICK AND NOT THE 12w.******

Thats the thing the keyboard works great as a smart cover too and i see no issues using it in bed. Sometimes i can't be bothered to use it in bed so just use my 6s plus instead. Best of both worlds

For me, the 12.9" has its pros and cons.

Pros:

- movies are great on it. I don't have a TV, and this is an improvement over my 12" laptop
- on a desk it can function pretty well as a computer (I use the Apple wireless Keyboard)
- the size is perfect for multitasking, so I can research and take notes, or draw with a reference image next to it

Cons:

- Too big sometimes to just hold and take notes. I prefer leaning it on a surface
- Not as easy to hold for extended periods of time; in bed, etc.

Would I rather have the 9.7"? I'm not sure. Had they come out at the same time, I'd likely have gotten the 9.7". But I do like what the Pro offers.

I think more likely drawing/painting apps really get benefit from Apple Pencil. I use Procreate and Paintstorm mainly, I can draw/paint like I do on paper with my hand. Some notes taking apps also probably have good reason to have Apple Pencil. Anything related to which you draw or write on your hand kind of things works pretty well with Apple Pencil.

I didn't like it at all. There were a lot of great things about it, screen and speakers mainly, but for the most part it didn't feel much faster than my Air 2. Granted, I'm not using any pro type apps. Really just for casual iPad use, which is probably most people. I returned mine and went with the 9.7 pro instead. Much easier to handle.

Have had the IPP 12.9 since release day and love it mainly because of the real estate which does make a difference. The Apple Pencil makes a huge difference for me along with the SMK. I prefer using the IPP for a number of things over my MacBook such as drawing, process mapping, project management, mindmapping, watching videos/films, browsing the web, reading. I go to my MacBook for remote access to work server as it is not optimised for touch and you need a mouse really (though there are workarounds such as Citrix mouse). Also prefer the functionality of office on MacBook over iOS as has more options which I need. However, don't see it too long before full desktop version on iOS of many apps. Apps like Ulysses however are a superb writing tool kit which I use a lot.

My only complaint is the SKB which is wish had had backlights and the placement of the camera for FaceTime. Because it is mainly used in landscape mode would prefer the camera moved to reflect this. Also a limitation is transferring on and off large files which can be slow at times. I also wish I had bought the 128GB version and not the 32GB.

I agree with the camera...always looks like I'm staring off to the side when I view the screen haha.

I just picked one up yesterday at Best Buy with the staples price match. I went back and forth on the size and actually ended up leaving because I thought it was too much. The multi tasking actually convinced me so I figured I'd give it a shot. After a day I really love the size. It's so much nicer to have a lot of room and use multiple apps. Really happy I went with it and it does give a completely different user experience than my iPad mini. They are both really great for their intended purposes. Also the keyboard cover is really amazing. I love typing on that thing and the size seems perfect. I was worried that the iPad may be too large to be comfortable but with the Smart Keyboard it fits in my lap great and is really comfortable to use and type on. If I use it in portrait I just rest It on my leg and it works great. I could see how it's not for everyone which is why it's nice to have the choice but I'm really loving this thing. I bought it figuring I could return it for the 10" if I wanted but this thing is a keeper for me!

Only if you're still rocking a 4:3 CRT. :p

The difference between 1.78 and 2.35 isn't as bad and "stretching" to fit to 1.78 isn't as horrible.
For what it's worth when movies are shot to take into account if you were going to be watching the most more screen so if you double-click to zoom in typically you still see largest percentage of important stuff I would find myself doing it on the iPad a lot and it doesn't overall affect anything because the positioning a shot as such that people with for my three ratio can still see the important action

For what it's worth there a couple of remote access applications that really really make it easy to use to glue if you're connecting to a Windows server let me know if you want some recommendations because particularly with parallels access which does require a monthly fee and maybe can't be running your work with that one makes almost any application touch native and it focuses on a single window motor with a built-in tasks with your to the iOS program another way to go is splash top streamer again requires a server-side install so maybe not for work but there are a couple of other ones that do work with the work setup

I'll put in my two cents. I had an iPad Air for two years and I loved it, used it just about every day. I upgraded to the iPhone 6 Plus and all of a sudden my iPad Air didn't seem so big to me any more. In anticipation of the iPad Pro I sold my Air while they were still worth a decent amount and waited for the Pro to be announced. I got the Pro just after launch.

I really liked it, I used it a lot and worked it into my life. After having it for a month I realized I wasn't using it as much as I was using my iPad Air when I had it. It was too cumbersome to use while laying in bed, too heavy to use one handed for any amount of time, and it was too unwieldy at times. Knowing how much I paid for it and it's large size made it difficult for me to feel like it was safe from falls, something that large is going to crack no matter what.

I sold it off and just went without a tablet, I was about ready to buy an iPad Air 2 but thank goodness I waited for the Pro 9.7. I am also selling my 6 Plus to get the iPhone SE, I had the iPhone 5s and the iPad Air combo and it worked well for me so I'm essentially going back to that experience.

I loved the iPad Pro but I feel like it become a stay at home, use on desk experience for me. I already have a computer for that purpose so no sense in keeping it.

All said, I can't wait for my iPad Pro 9.7 and my iPhone SE, both are supposed to be shipped by the 30th!
