Film is subjective. It's art after all. Sometimes you think it's utterly boring, sometimes it breaks your heart.

Don't base your opinion on something based on the fact that everyone else likes it, or everyone else hates it. IMDB scores are mostly from movie goers who see everything. Same thing with Rotten Tomatoes. People always are going to compare everything to their favorite movie and how it is awful compared to it, and how good it is compared to it.

Same thing with music.

As for Martin Scorsese, I've never seen anything he's done. However, I know that he's favored by the industry, and that's a good thing.

Sorry to be a bit pedantic (I like to think of this as merely educational) but insanity is a legal definition, not clinical; stating "clinically insane" doesn't make sense. Yes, it's a common colloquialism but similar to trying to use the term "ague" as a diagnosis or something like "Swamp sickness". Insanity makes a nice quip or soundbite but it has no meaning outside legal applications (in the U.S.).

:)

"clinically insane" makes as much sense as diagnosing someone based on a message board posting

You need to go to Jelly School too!

You should check out some of his work: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000217/#director

Finally.. A real gift I can really appreciate and enjoy. Hugo is a nice movie. Saw it in cinema and now it's a free gift. I hope more great gift for tomorrow. Unlike Day 1 gift :p

O M G Day 6 in Germany just had me burst out laughing ... literally. Guess this gift is targeted to 60+ year olds omg

"Helene Fischer - Unser Tag (single)" rofl :rolleyes::rolleyes:

What a kick in the teeth for those of us in Europe, Home Alone vs Hugo.

To be honest so far the content has been pretty meagre, I've deleted most of it only keeping the book which I'll probably not read. I've skipped downloading Home Alone, it must have been on tv numerous times. Hugo I would have watched.

Because it is long.

There is a lot of incredible detail in this movie. I wouldn't recommend watching it on a portable device.
The largest hd movie I have compressed with handbrake is 2.2gb. No real reason for an iTunes freebee to be 5gb in my opinion.

I'm not bashing what has been chosen to be free. I have downloaded the free things as I like them and not as I don't or in this case already have. If I had not already bought this movie I would have taken the free download, only to watch it later and then find out how bad it was. And in actuality I wanted to like this movie and did some parts, but as usual Scorsese takes what could have been a good movie and ruins it.

And so no, I am not wrong. I have studied film, written critically about film, have a film degree, and know a lot about the entire history of film. And Scorsese is OVERRATEED!

Not whining about free stuff, just bashing a director who needs to stop making movies.

Keep Studying then.

Wow you people whine a lot... I like Hugo, and I like that it was free! It's not Scorsese's best by any means in my opinion, but I thought it was a fun movie, and I liked seeing Scorsese try something that was aimed at a completely different audience from his other movies.

I prefer Hugo, but I would've liked getting Home Alone, too. Even if not, this stuff is FREE, and if just one of the twelve gifts is to your liking than you got a really sweet deal. This thread is like the king of rich world problems...

Did you know that it doesn't need even three minutes to create a temporary iTunes account in a foreign country?! You don't even need a credit card or a jailbreak to download free items.

So even if you're living outside US or Canada you can easily download Hugo. And when you are US or Canadian citizen you can create an iTunes account in UK and download Home Alone. For free right now. Both movies seem to stay free for another 12 hrs or so.

just as i thought - today it's "rhonna designs". it's some photo editing app (with IAP, no less)

i don't get it. the app-of-the-week segment in iTunes has better apps for free, and i got lots of nice stuff there, why are they suddenly dropping the ball with this?

Need iOS7?

I tried to install the app and it said I needed iOS7. Any other way to get these free gifts?

It's a gift. Don't complain people. You don't like it, don't download it.

I think this is one of the things that is what is wrong with the world. We have this entitlement attitude. Apple does not have to give you (or me) anything but they choose to do something nice and yet you bitch about it? Get over yourselves - it's a gift.
