The Pro Max is making me think the other way - why am I trying to adapt to such a large and heavy phone when I should just an ipad to complement a smaller iphone? Tough choice as its amazing to use and clearly the jewel in the 12 series.
I find the 11" iPad pro and the iP 12 is a good combo, 6.7" won't replace a iPad for me anyway. I use the iPad way more than my phone at home.

Battery life is amazing but I can’t handle size. It’s just too big for me. 12 Pro seems to be the sweet spot.

well, because you can more easily bring the pone with you on travel etc... it does more than an ipad..

Yes, this. I got pain in my tendons after using it only for a few hours.. :(
I hear ya! I suggest getting a Pop Socket. It makes all the difference!! They have a case with a Pop Socket built in so that way the phone can lay flat when you're not using the Pop Socket.

IMHO the issue is not the size but the thickness and the weight. I use a clear case with a Pop Socket. The Pop Socket makes the phone "workable" for me. I have a regular Pop Socket on it now but I've ordered a case that has it built in so that it will lay flat due to the inset area for the Pop Socket. This is the one I got. It's due for delivery in a few days: https://www.popsockets.com/p/otter-pop-symmetry-series-case-clear/OtterPop-Clear.html?lang=en_US
12 pm feels lighter than the 11pm to me. Just those dang sides.. lol

Gah stop with that perfectly logical line of reasoning. Had almost made up my mind to keep the Max... I had the XS Max and for some reason it wasn’t such a hard decision to keep that one. I think the boxy edges (and the slightly larger size) definitely make it less ergonomic... for me at least.
I finally worked out that because i have an iPad i no longer need the max size phones. Took me a few years to realise it though :)

I have the iPad Mini 4 and was hoping the Max could replace it as it is a pain to have two devices to "worry" about. I don't think I can give up the Mini though as the Max doesn't totally replace its features. But I am definitely getting used to the heft of the Max. And I needed the best camera as I take photos for my work and if I don't have WiFi access, it is nice to have a larger screen for Web use.

Now I’m contemplating one of those little pop-up knobs that goes on the back. My problem boils down to pinky pain. Whether I try to hold with one hand supported by pinky and scroll with the other, or hold with two hands with both pinkies under the base, the dang edges dig in (this is with silicone case). If I try to hold two handed without pinkies under the base, the phone slides down. Maybe one of those pop-up knobs would give me a way to take weight off the pinkies.

(This sounds so ridiculous outside the context of these forums lol...)

someone needs to make a MagSafe pop socket!!
There is a MagSafe pop socket. You just need to snap the top off when charging. I could not use the Max without a Pop Socket on it. Go to their site and see all the new stuff! But I don't see the Max as a one-hand phone though.

Yeah it does feel lighter, try the Pitaka case, its awesome... really
I actually have to give it to Apple Silicone! I have never bought an Apple accessory(not a fan of giving them more money;) but this thing is the most comfy I have felt for a case. I’m going to try a couple skins tho and see how they go.

Well I’m hoping this skin makes it feel really thin! I also got a clear one to finally see how good these phones actually look walking around...:) B53EBEF9-24CC-430D-991F-4D77CEA1DED8.png

I used it about half the day in a case and half without a case. The sides are starting to dig into my hands. Not sure how it will fair over time! Or do I just have sissy hands?!

I generally hold it like this... hasn’t hurt yet. Been using it since Friday evening. I’ll be getting a case Tuesday, but rocking naked until then. Having that flat edge on the bottom actually helps me hold it easier.

I am coming from an 8 Plus. 12 Pro Max just little bigger not a deal breaker. I don't know if I like this face ID as the button always works without issues. Also I think the 8 Plus screen is clearer to me. 12 Pro max camera is noticeably better but I don't care about the camera is a phone to me. I have a Spigen Thin Fit case and when the phone is on flat surface when pushing down on face it rocks, which my 8 Plus did not. The signal on Verizon appears to be just as good or better than my 8 Plus. I have set the phone to LTE as do not care about 5G at this time as is limited and do not want battery to drain. Grip wise I think the rolled edges feel more comfortable in my hands v. the flat edges. I have the 14 days to try it out hopefully grows on me.
