Just FYI, I’ve had this issue only on my iPhone 12 Pro (iPhone 11 Pro did not exhibit this issue) but I am on my second 12 Pro because the mic/speaker went out on my launch day phone. Both exhibit the issue so it does not seem to be hardware based and a swap is unlikely to make an impact.

Of the YouTube videos I’ve watched on iOS 14.2 I have seen the keyboard lag mentioned but not one person has mentioned the lag on closing apps. They all comment on how good performance is. Makes me feel like I’m the only one with this problem but this thread shows that’s not the case!
Yeah I’ve read multiple accounts of people having replaced theirs with no improvement, so it’s gotta be a software optimization thing.

Don’t want to jinx it, but haven’t seen stutter today after installing 14.3... will keep an eye on it.
Same. It seemed to vanish for a short while then soon come back!

Still really annoying. I use my phone a lot and about 5 times a day I go into multitasking instead of closing app. I mean, this is incredibly first world problem, but it bugs me more than it should 😂

Hey! I have the 12 Pro Max since yesterday running 14.2 and I’ve noticed the same stutter. Doesn’t always happen, but happens maybe 2 out of 5 times when closing an app.
For anyone who’s seeing it on the 14.3 beta, make sure to submit a report through the Feedback app. Seems like the most direct way to get someone’s attention about this issue.
Just wondering if any of you also notice the same kind of stutters in general use. For example I noticed the occasional stutter (as frequent) when switching between applications, or scrolling long pages. And the duration of the stutters is pretty much identical to the ones that we are referring to in this thread.
Can’t say I’ve noticed it when scrolling, but definitely when switching apps too.
Thanks. I think to be fair actually it isn’t as frequent as the switching apps which is now at least 50% of the time.
I wonder if you’re onto something here. I’ve been using iPhone 12 Pro caseless for the past hour and not a single stutter while closing apps. In normal use I have it in the apple silicone case too. Perhaps this is MagSafe related?
