I'm bored here at home, and thought, why not move to sprint with a new 4s and sell my iPhone 4 that I got on July
We have 5 lines with AT&T
2 iPhones, and 3 regular phones
I had the $59.99 plan with 700 minutes and $30 unlimited family messaging
We pay $215 a month including taxes

Ok so I tell the AT&T lady that I want to see how much it would be to cancel my service and with no more questions asked, she began offering discounts
She gave me $200 in credit immediately, lowered my unlimited messaging to $20 a month, moved me to the 450 minutes 39.99 plan, and we have free mobile to any mobile minutes, and gave me, 3000 roll over minutes just in case that 450 minutes are not enough
High five
:-D

Good move not actually switching to Sprint though. Data crawls on the 4S.

with sprint now getting iPhone 4S and lots of people interested in unlocked iphooe 4S with t-mobile

sure, att will try their best to keep iPhone deflectors to Verizon, Sprint and to some extend T-mobile.

do post us here what happens ...

i am mainly thinking of SWITCHING from att is to get unlocked iPhone (at least on the GSM portion of it).

Wait, so AT&T will let you have a family plan on the 450 minutes plan?

And, also, I'm pretty sure unlimited text messaging was already $20. If anything, you were merely paying above the current rate and AT&T obviously wasn't going to tell you preemptively

Unlimited texting is now $30 on the Family Plan, but it includes unlimited mobile to mobile minutes. Very nice. They did away with the A-list (Family and Friends), so calling land lines goes against your plan minutes. With rollover, I think AT&T's plans are the best. Although on paper Sprint seems cheaper, when you add it all up plus the crappy network performance, AT&T wins.

I am still laughing at the people who thought Sprint would be any better....

My friend bought an iPhone 4s from sprint on launch morning and took it back that night, they were like why are you brining your iPhone back everyone loves the iPhone. Data speeds were so slow and even some no service were the reason he exchanged it for the s2.

how come changing phones will fix your friends's network issues (aka sprint's network issue)

I can't tell you how many times I've called AT&T threatening to switch if they don't give me back unlimited data. I just got off the phone with then again. They wouldn't push my upgrade eligibility up, nor would they put me back on unlimited data. I can't win like some of you people.

did they ditch A-List very recently? I may be misremembering but I thought it was available on the 1400 minute family plans and above. I also though there was a similar limit for getting the mobile to any mobile part. I may need to revisit things if M2anyM applies to the lower family plans.

then just switch it to Verizon assuming it has good coverage where you live.

Yes, A-List was discontinued last month.

Family Talk includes free M2M on AT&T network. That means its free if you call another AT&T mobile phone.

The $30 unlimited texting adds free M2M to ANY mobile.

I would if they still offered unlimited data. I even got my parents who have unlimited data on their Verizon iPhones to see if they could add a new line and have unlimited. Nope, new line = tiered data. Plus Verizon would probably be more a month then what I pay now with AT&T.

That explains it then, it was about three months ago that I had done the evaluation and changed things up.

I think there are still two family unlimited texting plans, one with mobile to any carrier mobile and one without; I need to see if that difference is dependent on the 700 vs 1400 minute family plan.

Thanks.

Hmm, it still shows up on my account. I was able to go in a few minutes ago and update my A-list.

Maybe it's your attitude. Doesn't sound like the OP 'threaten'(ed) or called just to try to get some '***!' out of them...

Just a guess, though.

Just do the unlimited data trick and one problem solved.

Maybe we're grandfathered in? I still see it on my account too, and under "Usage" see the minutes I'm not paying for because of it.

Just got free texting for 6 months, $10 off a month on my minute plan, $10 off my data plan, and a $20 account credit to cover a upgrade fee I wasn't told would be on my bill.

Is it wrong I feel a little bad?
