So, now that is extra official the new iPhone is the 4S, we can start talking about how is the next iPhone going to be. I'm sure the next iPhone will be the 5. Couldn't get the iPhone 4S now so I guess my next iPhone will be the most wanted 5.

Let's start with the speculations...

One thing I am sure of; it won't be named iPhone 5, since the 4S is the 5th iPhone.

Yeah... I was just thinking the same thing. Was the iPhone 4 the fourth iPhone?... I think the iPhone 3G was the second iPhone right.

That's interesting..... but I pretty much assume it would be the 5 since it follows what seems to be an emerging pattern:

  • iPhone
  • 3G
  • 3GS
  • 4
  • 4S
  • 5
  • 5S
  • 6
  • 6S
  • etc.

Even though it will actually be the 6th iPhone model, I still think that Apple will call it the 5.....if they call it iPhone 6, it will confuse people.

I don't think so ... I think they'll just drop the number, like they do with Macs.

iPhone (2012)

The second iPhone was called 3G so I don't think Apple is using that number to recall the iPhone version.

Either they will call it the 5, then the 5s after.

Or they will go with yearly models as stated before this post.

I think it's a bit early to be talking about the next iPhone... The 4S was only released a little over a week ago and hasn't even rolled out to most of the world yet.

Yes but we all were expecting an iPhone 5 so after that disappointment we can start talking about what we were expecting.. The probabilities are more accurate.

I think that they will stick to the X, XS... way of naming their future iPhone releases. X = Design, XS = Spec bump - so the next iPhone will be the iPhone 5, in my opinion.

Well, it was called 3G because of the 3G, although it was the second phone. So I assume it will be iPhone 6.

There has been only two phones named after the generation they are. The first phone and the fourth phone. It will absolutely confuse regular customers if they skip to iPhone 6.

I don't know why people are so obsessed with things lining up, aka iOS6, a6, iPhone 6. Apple could not care less about what generation a phone is.

i hope they just call it the Apple iPhone.

do it the way the macs and ipods are done, they change, but the name stays the same.

or we might get the iphone 4G next year, since it might finally offer 4g, (not that i care much for 4g) but it would be nice

Working on the fact that out of the 5 iPhones released so far, only 1 of them has had the correct designation (iPhone 4) why do people think that Apple will suddenly name the next one 6?

It has more chance being called iPhone 4G for the rollout of the 4G network, having said that, my money will be on iPhone 5 for the simple fact that 5, strangely enough, comes after 4.

Lol,

iPhone 4
iPhone 4S
iPhone 4G
iPhone 4GS
iPhone 8

:D

lol that would be something...

anybody thinks the iphone will fall behind android in specs on the next iphone?

specs dont really matter, its the ios that people pay for, but as far as i can remember the iphone was always a year or two ahead of every other phone out there, what happened this year seems like it just caught up with android and its stuck...(my iphone beats my friends thunderbolt on his 4g, but still, only by a bit...)

it sucks that android had to copy most features from the iphone, but i hope apple puts their thinking caps on again and revolutionizes the iphone again...

It wouldn't make any sense to call it the iPhone 5. Even though not all the iPhones have been named after the generation the number has always referenced something.

iPhone 3G = Added 3G, 3s = 3rd phone/spec bump, 4 = 4th gen, 4s = spec bump. What would the 5 mean? It's not the 5th gen, it wouldn't relate to new hardware like the A5.
