Because there exists confusion with naming it by its generation (6th) and normal people inquiring about why there's no iPhone 5, I'd bet the naming/numbering scheme drastically changes. We'll see either the iPhone HD or iPhone LTE. Then subsequent iPhones will drop the additional naming detail and simply be described by their year of release.

As for features- larger screen (not too large though, maybe 4in), inductive charging (let's face it, wired chargers are annoying), better quality front camera (it's currently not very good), and perhaps some variation on how iOS looks/operates.

I think they should just start calling it "iPhone" again. That is what it says on the back of the phone. Forget the number or the letter that comes with it. This is similar to how the iPods are called. There is no iPod 4 or whatever. They differentiated by the generation.

Just call it iPhone and let's stop making these assumptions of their specific number or letter that usually gets printed on the box and ads. It will start looking silly once we get to "iPhone 14" or whatever.

Plausible theory. But I think from a marketing and advertising standpoint, its easier to have each product be named something different. People will be able to better recognize and relate certain features to the newest model's name, be it iPhone+number or iPhone+something else. Think about how commercials and advertisements would be without distinct model names. Granted, they didn't do it with iPods, as you said, I personally think different model names for each revision help clarify which is which.

Very possible for it to be the "iPhone 4G" or "iPhone LTE" or something completely different than before.

Four pages of what it will be called. Maybe the thread title should be "Now we can talk about what the next iPhone will be called". I don't care what it will be called, I just know that I will be getting it. :D

The one thing I am curious to find out is whether or not I will actually use Siri. I just don't see myself using it, but who knows.

Only two pages for me......40 posts per page. ;)

I can see myself using it to text or email while I'm driving. That way my eyes never leave the road......

Hahahaha... yeah, that should be the new title

I thought this was suppose to be about the next iPhone not what you think the next iPhone is going to be named

That's interesting..... but I pretty much assume it would be the 5 since it follows what seems to be an emerging pattern:

  • iPhone
  • 3G
  • 3GS
  • 4
  • 4S
  • 5
  • 5S
  • 6
  • 6S
  • etc.

Even though it will actually be the 6th iPhone model, I still think that Apple will call it the 5.....if they call it iPhone 6, it will confuse people.

I hope they don't go with 6S. That just sounds so awkward when saying it:

Apple: "And now, I'm proud to present the iPhone Six ess!"
Audience: "Sixess? Success? What?"

Not to mention how it looks on paper: 6S. Just doesn't go as well as 4S or 3GS.

I dunno, my opinion. :)
