Offer your opinion as to when the iOS5 untethered jailbreak will be released.

Comments from musclenerd provide optimism for a jailbreak. lack of major news leads me to believe that the jailbreak will be released sometime in Nov/Dec assuming its based on a software vulnerability.

If I had to pick one date, I'd say November 17. ~First prime number under 30 that popped in to my mind.

Looking forward to read other people's opinion.
As always, don't forget to vote in poll.

It's hard to tell. We didn't have any fearful hints from the jailbreak devs in regards to how hard iOS 4 and the A4 were to crack, yet we are seeing these challenges with iOS 5 and the A5.

That said, last year, after the first iPhone 4 was jailbroken by the devs, we saw an official untethered release a month later. Since musclenerd demonstrated the first A5 iOS 5 jailbreak on 10/28, I'm guessing the earliest possible date we will see an official untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 on all devices would be late November/early December.

Isn't it more relevant as to when a jailbreak will be released for the iPhone 4S? The tethered jailbreak for iOS 5 on the 4/3Gs is so stable it is basically like an untethered jailbreak and if you really are worried you can install the semi untethered jailbreak.

I upgraded to 5 yesterday and jailbroke it.

Its really just a very little inconvenience you have to boot it tethered!

Bigger inconvenience is many jailbreak apps arent ready for ios5 yet ;)

One is tethered, one is untethered, they are NOT the same

Not for people who turn phones off before going to sleep. No way would I open the comp daily to boot tethered.....

After 5.0.1 is released.

This is my guess, or what ever Apples next update is...I dont like the circular argument of "they're waiting for the next update" vs "there will always be a NEXT update", but I expect the battery issue to be fixed in the next update and Id say it would be best to wait for that update before releasing a jailbreak

+1

The first .0.1 update is usually about a month after the first release of the software, so hopefully in about a week or so we'll see 5.0.1 with some bug fixes and then the jailbreak within a week or so of that date.

Just curious why you HAVE to turn the phone off? What's wrong with putting it on silent? Also it takes 15 seconds to do a tethered boot in redsn0w

On November 16, 17, or 18. I can say that it will definitely be released around that time, from the 16th to 21st. That's the timeframe. The Siri port for other supported iDevices will be released to Cydia on November 18-22. This is my prediction. I will update if I am right or wrong. I know why the untethered jailbreak is not out yet, and someone on this forum already answered that on another thread.

BlizzardBolt seems to have almost the same prediction timeframe as I do. Epic!
