sad that when people have an issue, they run back to their previous OS... instead of getting help with that issue.

anyway, on my 2 macbooks, mojave is a step forward; basically, (slightly) faster, and stable. that is what i care about most; that my mac works well, so i can work well.

The former is exactly because of the latter. I care more about having a Mac that works well, than I do about helping Apple build the OS. They have a beta program, and I didn't opt into it, so I don't really want to be wasting time diagnosing the system now when the beta program is finished.

What's sad is that it's a choice I need to make.

I get it, software has bugs. This doesn't appear that it's something that only happens to my machine, it appears that it's happening to several people.

Do you have a 2015 MBPro? Does it drain overnight if left on sleep and not plugged in?

My MacBook Pro 2015 15” 16gb/512gb (no DGPU) is running Mojave now, it’s really fantastic. I’ve had no UI lagging yet which I faced in High Sierra, it was pretty horrendous(plus I have more pixels to push being it’s a 15”). I figured the Iris wasn’t able to handle the retina anymore, but it seems a little optimization is all it needed. I recommend going for it.

Wow, you can copy and paste! So clever! Looks like your 3rd grade education is really paying off!

This discussion can do without your quips

My Macs are used for my business, I will revert to a previous OS if I have any issues. Due to the fact they need to be used for work not play, I don't have time to spend fixing issues for Apple. I have been with Apple since System 7 so I'm no spring chicken.

I went back to Sierra on my late '13 iMac. The fonts were a little blurry and when you open a PDF it was blurry until it was resized. Sierra is smooth, fast and stable for me. I do have Mojave on my 2012 Mini with a 23" Dell IPS HD monitor, fonts look OK on that but I can no longer wake it up from sleep with the keyboard or mouse. YMMV......Ed

There is a simple fix for that that I used last night.

my 2015 13" macbook pro does not drain overnight. and fixing a problem, in any situation, is always a reasonable option. besides, you're not 'helping apple build the OS', you're dealing with a specific problem that you have.

there's (almost) always a choice; move forward, stand still, or move backward. up to you.

So if I understand, you had yours in sleep mode last night and it didn't lose any battery at all? How is that possible?

sorry, i should clarify: it does not drain much, or... any different than in high sierra (at least, not that i'm seeing)...

Thanks. Are you able to leave it in sleep for 6 hours? Not asking you to materially deviate from your typical usage, but if you can...

Charge to 100%, close your apps, verify nothing is preventing sleep in Activity Monitor, close the laptop, come back 6 hours later and login and check the battery.

After update from HS to Mojave, overall rMBP feels a little sluggish, even days later, boot time slower, machine a little warmer, battery draining while sleeping. Didn’t happen on betas. Same thing as always- wait until 10.14.3 or later when the beta testing *really* ends.

Thanks for all the replies and feedback/suggestions. Although I would like to eventually move over to Mojave, as my MBP is currently running incredibly well on Sierra, I think I'll stay as I am for a bit longer yet. Perhaps in a few months time when a few issues have been ironed out and maybe a few more tweaks made I'll upgrade then.

Good call IMO.

i'll do that (full disclosure, just updated to 10.14.1 public beta 1), but will give it six hours, and report back...

I haven't had any issues that I know of yet. I recently did a clean install to the final version of high Sierra, and just updated from that. 13" early 2015 MacBook Pro as well.

Excellent. If you can try the same 6 hour or overnight power drain test it would be great.

How is it possible that the actual release is worse than a beta? That doesn't make sense at all unless testing is not thorough.

I don't restart often so can't speak to boot time, but my rmbp '15 definitely runs hotter and battery drain is ridiculous. Oddly, despite the overheating, fans didn't kick in once I started the computer from sleep.

This is a horrible, horrible OS X release.

sorry, long day, and am crashing. so this is a 5-hour report (and again, updated to10.14.1 public beta 1 today)... battery is at 97%, so down 3% in that time). hope this is useful info.

i just plugged it in,so it's just starting to charge, & took this screenshot.

Thanks. Setting up Time Machine again and maybe I’ll try .1B1.

Has the .2 or .3 updates to Mojave helped with the Sleep battery drain or improved your experiences at all?

I asked because my wife's Macbook Pro 13" 2015 (i7/16GB/512 SSD) with Sierra is starting to have some issues reading USB drives she uses on both macOS and Windows (at work). I was thinking about upgrading her system, but do not want to give her a worse experience. Mojave has been solid on everything I have put it on (my mini's, a work MacPro 2012, and a work Macbook Air 2014). I might also try resetting her SMC, but I feel it might be the time to jump to Mojave for nothing less than being fully up-to-date.

All experiences with a MBP 2015 running Mojave is appreciated!

I tried installing Mojave on MBP 2015 13". So far no issues except I could not connect via hdmi (which later I knew that's not the issue). However, I tried to rollback to El Capitan. I have to say, the speed difference is quite significant. So, now I am back using El Cap.

When I made the transition from Yosemite to Sierra I noticed a big improvement in speed and general snappiness. I am still on Sierra and have been considering switching to Mojave for a while now. So, from your experience, do you think I should remain on Sierra for a little longer? Is Mojave generally slower?
