Whats the point of getting a Macbook? Just to show off to your friends or just for pride?

Just get a desktop if you're plugged in all day... Waste of money to spend it on a premium notebook and you're just going to let it sit and die a horrible death.

Its to show off to my friends

Does it still look any good at 1/4 resolution tho? I'm thinking there might be artifacts or whatever. Just having reservation whether a rMBP at 1/4 res will look as good as a cMBP at native res. I know theoretically it should, but anyone with real world sighting able to comment on this?

With the discreet, is the rMBP 15" able to comfortably drive SC2 at native res?

It looks the same as cMBP at 1/4. I can testify to that. If you need everything to run silky smooth, though, you only have to drop down to either 1920 x 1200 or 1680 x 1050.

Is the rMBP 15" able to drive SC2 comfortably at 2880 x 1800? Yes. But I keep things at 1680 x 1050 mainly because the cursor gets insanely small, and then it's really hard to see what I'm trying to select on the screen.

Does the MBPr enhance the screen at 1680 x 1050 using the extra pixels or does it looks like "regular" 1680 x 1050? And if so, what happens to the other pixels?

The rMBP doesn't "enhance" anything at arbitrary resolutions. It only scales them.

I don't have a 1680 x 1050 to compare the output to, but 1680 x 1050 on rMBP looks better than 1440 x 900 if nothing else. And 1920 x 1200 looks better than 1680 x 1050, obviously.
