How long does it usually take before the 2010 MBP will begin showing up in the refurbished site?
Usually 1-3 months after update
BTW, are you eligible for free iPod deal which kicks off soon? That'd be the deal breaker to get the new one as it immediately brings down the cost by 200$
Are you asking if I can still apply the education discount? Yes. $200 off? I thought it was only $100 off?
Good deal. I don't necessarily need an iPod Touch since I have an iPhone. I never really print anything either but both are nice to have ...
Or just sell them. You can get ~150$ from iTouch and save the printer as there is always a need for one, sooner than later. That's how most people do it, it's nice extra discount
ha ha ... as soon as i made the last post, i checked ebay ... selling the ipod touch is a definite option.
my head tells me that i should get the 13" option. it has everything i need and won't cost but $245. my heart, though, says bigger is better and to go for it all. if it wasn't $550 to $700 more, that's what i'd get. besides the extra 2" of screen, am i going to notice any of the other differences?
I ordered the 13" MBP too.
The portability and the 10hr battery life was WAY too attractive.
The price difference is a lot for just a screen (considering the i5 and video card isn't something ur going to use.)
I'd save the money and spend it on something else. A new iPhone come out in a month...
BTW, HDD is supposedly VERY simple to upgrade and you can get 500GB HDDs for $70 now. If you can even get 7200 RPM ones for fairly cheap now. I wouldn't give Apple $50 for just 70 GB.
And to help you with the "Refurb" vs "New" argument.
The New ones have sound output through Mini Display Port. So if you plan on hooking up your MBP with a TV to watch movies and stuff then the "New" option will be the one.
very good points. as much as i want the bigger screen, i'm spending atleast $450 more for a larger screen - the other stuff i don't foresee using. i'm still debating whether or not that's worth it.
i wish i could get the new iphone but i've got another year on my contract so it's worth the $$$ to wait ...
if it's not hard to do, i like the idea of installing a new hard drive myself. is there a specific hard drive that you would recommend?
finally, i'm glad you mentioned the mini display port. i've got a ps3 to watch blu-rays and stream netflix, but it's a great option to have and one i can definitely see myself using ...
I see it this way, you save the $450. Sell your current iPhone for $150... You have $600 to buy a new iPhone.

If you don't need the larger screen to be portable, you could purchase an external display for your laptop for right around $450 or less (suggestion: for about $500, the HP LP2475W uses an H-IPS panel and has excellent color fidelity). I can easily run the HP 24" display and I have the not-so-great Intel X3100 integrated graphics chip.
2.5" hard drive reviews can be found on Tomshardware.com. I have considered upgrading my HDD with one of the WD 5400 RPM blue drives because they are almost as fast as 7200 RPM drives but offer more space and lower power draw. Also suggested is the Seagate Momentus, but check the reviews.
I don't know if these upgrades are worth it or not. That's mainly why I am here.
Also, I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not, but the MBP is my graduation gift. I have to pay the difference from the $899 MB. So I'm looking at paying:
$245 for option #1
$800 for option #2
$945 for option #3
Man if you're getting a MBPro for under nett $1k then aim high.
the 15" MBPro 2.53 with hi-res anti.glare will cost you $984 and if you want it super fast and silent and don't need heaps of storage (that's what external hard discs are for) then opt for the 128gb SSD as well.
but if you can squeeze the extra buck$ then go all out for the core i7 - in its standard form (no anti.glare screen) it'll cost you $999.
that's be my tip - but hey, I'm an Aussie - what do I know?![]()
Anti-Glare is useless unless you work outside![]()
