I don't know how it looks on the MB as I just have it protecting the screen of my iPhone (which it does make shiny)

Humm, I will have to check it out first. Don't want the MBP to start looknig like a shiny piece of metal sitting on my desk... :)

One thing to note is that you get a Lifetime Guarantee with InvisibleShield. I've had to return my iPhone, took the InvisibleShield off, mailed it back, and received a new one. Since you're looking at $50 for the InvisibleShield, this is a pretty good deal. I'd also check out their website as they usually have videos showing how to apply the product - you might be able to get an idea of whether or not it is shiny.

Yeah i'll check out the video when i go home tonight. Videos don't work at work for some reason...

Thanks for the pointers though.

Decided yet??

If I can make the $ work, I'm going to go ahead an pony up for a 15". And if I can do it, I'll just go ahead and upgrade to a matte screen. I'm hoping to get 0% interest for 12 months - has anyone had experience with the Barclays card?

If it doesn't work out, I'll get the 13". Either way, I'll be happy but since I'll probably have it for 4-5 years, I'd like to get all I can.

If you get the time though, go check out the different screens at the store. Check out the Anti-Glare and the Hi-Res screens at the store.

Make sure u know the difference first.

Oh man, did you guys see the new HP ENVY laptops???

DAMN!
And I've already ordered my MBP.... and I can't return it :(

Oh well, i'm going to just be happy with what I got.

I would've like to save the money on the cheaper HP ENVY but I'm sure the Apple will serve me well for 3-4 years...

Well since everyone in here is being so helpful, I would like to tag on another question:

What is the best way to protect the aluminum body of a MBP??

Thanks!

Personally I like the sleevecase by waterfield. They are made in the USA and not much more than the incase fluff you can buy at the apple store. They are custom fitted to the notebook and configurable. Check out sfbags.com. I would not go for a hardcase, but invisible shields are not a bad option just difficult to apply.

Look like a MacBook does not make it one. You made the right decision. The current envys are not that great and have overheating issues with the i7 quad core, not the same as the i7 dual core. Futhermore the new 14" and 17" models which will have a unibody construction, meaning cnc'ed aluminum body, will not be released for a couple months, and there are no reviews to backup that they will be better than the originals just yet.
Then the trackpad will still not be comparable to apples and osx is still nicer than windows 7. Finally apples support is far and away better than anythig hp offers. Do not doubt yourself.

I think the OP has decided on the 15" but he's debating between a Glossy or Matte screen. (He started another thread asking that question.)

Correct. It looks like I am going to go with the 15". I went to Best Buy last night to compare the 13" and 15" since some people mentioned that the 15" was too big for their tastes. For me, the 15" is perfect. The only problem is that the BB only had the 15" glossy (I don't remember if it was Hi-Res or not). So my decision now is to with the glossy or matte (assuming I should upgrade to the Hi-Res display)?

Thanks again for everyone's help!

Yeah I would definitely go with the Hi-Res even before i consider Glossy or Matte.

Do a google picture search for the Apple Matte displays. They look different than the Glossy ones, esthetically I mean. So you might not even like how one looks over the other from that prespective.

Got my 13" MBP today and loving it!!

It's taking me a bit of time to get use to the trackpad, but it's good!!
The screen is just amazing!

Congrats! No problems with the glossy?

I went back to BB this weekend to check out the glossy (they don't have the matte) and I honestly didn't have any problems with it. I was looking for the reflections and didn't really notice anything substantial. If I wasn't specifically looking for reflections, I don't think I would have even noticed. Of course, maybe it was the lights in the store being so high up ...

Dude i can't use the laptop at full brightness. It's WAY too bright. Coming from a 4 year old laptop, this one is just WAY too bright. So i don't see it causing any issues in light. And i also think the Black bezel looks much better than the silver one from the Matte display. But that's just my opinion!
