...with all the new features/changes is this considered a rev A item again?
It's been established as a Rev. B.

How's it cheaper? They were and are $1200, no?
Yeh, the upgrades are nice for sure, but i think the name change is having a LOT to do with the sales.

I don't get it though. Its the same damn thing as the "old" Macbook except w/ a new batter and a small CPU speed bump.
Its not like it has discrete graphics like a real MBP.
Stopped into the Apple Store in Roosevelt Field Mall in NY today for my girl to pick up a case for her macbook, and so I could nose around the store.
So, I am there and its packed with customers but under control and lots of help. What I noticed during our 1/2 hour there was the train of 13" Mac Pro's leaving the store. There were several sitting on the desk in the back getting rung up as a girl came from the stock room with 2 more for waiting customers. As well there were at least 2-3 more people walking out with theres... All 13" Pro's .... it was like there was a fire sale or something. I'd love to know how many they sold in total today considering what I saw in just 1/2 hour.
And that's why you don't run Apple. Average consumers are who the 13" MBP is aimed at, not actual pro users, therefore, throw in a few extra features that the average person has heard of; battery improvements, sd card slot, and people will lap them up. Also helped by 'pro' branding and free iPod and printer rebates.
1099 student discount minus $200 i got for the free ipod.

Absolutely. Thats my point. Its a great computer, a decent step up, and a decent deal. But all this "frenzy" is to some degree attributed to the name change.
Apple is very good at what they do. And this is it.
Wouldn't it be $1099 in total?
The iPod Touch you get is $229, but you're basically getting that for free.
So the total would be $1099 with the Student Discount, not $899, correct?
Yeah, and once you have the free iPod touch, you can sell it all you want; at least 200$ off the price again, bringing it down to 899$
I suppose that's what he did, anyway...
I doubt they will drop the pc ads. A lot of people still see 1,000 as too much to spend for a computer. But those of us who know the truth know it cost far less in the long run.
My new hard drive is so close I can't wait until it gets here. My hard drive crashed last week and I am having to share my sisters $500 acer craptop.![]()
I cannot wait to see how microsoft is going to do there "I'm a PC" add with these new mac's w/ new prices and simply way better than the competition. Maybe they'll drop them. What do you guys think?
I assume you're talking about your Mac's hard drive... funny that you say a Mac will cost far less in the long run, and then follow it by saying you have to get a new hard drive. Hahaha. By the way, how old is your computer? I just got an MBP13, hope it lasts a while.
i mean... depending on the age of the computer and if she's talking about a MacBook - moving something around a lot while it's spinning either at 5400 or 7200 times per minute is kind of something that you would expect to have problems with over time.
saying that a Mac is less expensive doesn't really change due to the fact that the same hard drives are in every computer. a 2.5" SATA isn't an Apple 2.5" SATA
