Okay, that mall is full of snotty little white kids who have nothing better to do except spend money. I can't stand walking through that place on a weekend.
um.....................................................?
Decided not to say anything. There will be people like that in this world:(

Wow, this is a great plus for Apple. I'm thinking of getting one myself- it'll be my first Mac. I'll be replacing this ancient crap-top:D that has crashed maybe a dozen times... I have had to reformat it and even wipe out the disk once, all because of who knows what. I hope :apple: has some in stock when I get it soon!

I doubt they will drop the pc ads. A lot of people still see 1,000 as too much to spend for a computer. But those of us who know the truth know it cost far less in the long run.

My new hard drive is so close I can't wait until it gets here. My hard drive crashed last week and I am having to share my sisters $500 acer craptop. :(

True, but now that Apple has lowered the prices and upped the ram specs Microsoft ads are telling a falsehood if they keep running them. Like the girl who's a filmaker :)rolleyes:) yeah right, she claims that the 15"MBP has 2GB ram and it's $1999. Yeah, it was a week ago but now it's $1699 with 4GB ram. If Microsoft doesn't change this ad they are now lying.

Apple really did damage MS's advertising campaign with the updated MBP line.

I remember when I bought my 2.0 MacBook in October. There were only a few customers, and I didn't see a whole bunch of customers actually buying the MacBook. I was probably the only one buying an Unibody MacBook. I just sold my MacBook for $1100 on CL and bought a MBP this evening. I stood next to the warehouse and I saw a whole bunch of employees carrying boxes of MBPs (assuming that they were 13" models) to the customers. This is going to be a very good seller. I can see PC users diminishing already.

IIRC, the MacBook was always Apple's best seller.

I believe he said Apple Store.

I've also seen these selling like crazy. I work right next to an Apple Store, and I see tons of people walking through the parking garage with them.

That's what I mean. Best Buy sells so many different models of laptops, but I never see anyone buy them. But the poster walked into an Apple Store and already saw a couple of Macbook's being sold, which I find amazing.

I can vouch for the OP...

I was at Apple store in Fashion Valley mall (San Diego) today to see the new Pro lineup and kill time. Its such a good deal... updated specs, upped the RAM max to 8GB, sd slot, "Pro" moniker etc etc... and for $100 off the original asking price of 1299. I couldn't believe it was $1199 and had to do a double take.

My little brother pointed out "oh, they're getting the new 13 inch pro" and as I looked up I didn't know which customer he was talking about because there were at least three people being helped out with 13 inch MBP boxes sitting in front of them.

Back to school special is like the cherry on top... and we're only in JUNE people! Apple will be moving lots of these in the next few months leading up to the end of the special.

Congrats to those new owners.

what a shame that in polish stores the basic version in for about $1750... and the student discount is only $150... :-( anybody willing to send one for an american price to Europe? :)

can this really be considered first gen? it seems more like an update to the 13" macbook...better screen, cheaper, etc.

Yeah, I wouldn't consider it a first generation. Had they just updated it without changing the name, there'd be no doubt about it. I see it as a second generation.

well basically everything changed on it. Im sure the internals are completely different. Im also skeptical of SL working right out of the box.

Very true. I was buying mine on thursday, and I felt unoriginal with my purchase because there were 5 other people buying them near me! A great computer though, so it's understandable. Then the next day I had it replaced due to a extra battery screw loose under the RAM. Maybe it'll be a refurb soon;) I hope they fix the 1.5Gb SATA though... I'm sure more will be bought if they do!
SG :apple:

I'm thinking of trading up my 15" for the 13" (no not because of the name, but rather it's got FW800 and that's the only reason I went for the 15" previously).

Of course there is the SATA 150 issue which is unfortunate.

$1249 for previous version and $99 printer for free
$1099 for current version with its extra features with $229 iPod Touch and $99 printer for free

Not surprising at all that it is selling well. They put the education discount back to $100 off unlike the measly $50 it was previously plus the summer iPod deal. The previous MB should have been released prior to September so I could have taken advantage of the summer promo. Unfortunately they waited until October.

I was at the Apple Store over the weekend and I must have seen 7+ walking out with the 13" Pro's.

I'm picking my Pro this Friday.
