I said I have. This is not uncommon with electronic displays.

Why delete? This thread is good. Please keep posting. I like it.
don't we already have a thread where people can post their new iPad complaints? Why start another one just to let us know you bought and returned the device 13 times?

Mine has no problems. the display is perfect, haven't found a reason to complain. No backlight leaks, shadows, nothing.
I guess some people are seeing things their mind wants them to see, not what's really there.
That's what I used to say when I first got the iPad back in the old days.

Keep in mind that the iPad glass is polarized, which also means that it directs light in certain directions. Put on some polarized sunglasses and then try to look at the display in both landscape and then portrait orientation, and you'll see what I mean.
Just because you can't see the problem, or not having the problem doesn't mean others won't get the problem.

The dark stripe in the middle could be an optical illusion or side-effect of polarization. And due to the optics in most cameras, the photos we see could be showing more defects than reality.
Optical illusion or side-effect of polarization my ass. This is seen looking straight directly at the screen. This guy is worse than the troll or spammer.

To the OP. Apple is obviously unable to produce an iPad that meets your standards. That is OK, that decision is up to you. However, you are wasting your time and money by going through 13 of them.

After 2 or 3, and you are still not satisfied, I would simply make the decision that this product is not for me, and move on. At this point, it is abundantly clear that you will not ever be satisfied, so further efforts along these lines will be pointless.

for those of you who keep returning iPads in search of a perfect device, i'm here to help.

i purchased a 16GB, wifi (verizon), black iPad 3 that is 100% perfect. not one single blemish.

i will sell you my ipad for $850. just message me and we'll work out the arrangement.

Mods should just ban these threads...

There seems to be a lot of pushback and fear that surfaces when anyone shares their poor experience.

If we were all yes men, accepting anything Apple puts out, it would be a terrible development. It seems that it's getting closer to that state of affairs daily.

Attacking the OP, calling names, or assigning labels like OCD or troll are the tactics of the insecure.

And probably children.

just get an ipad 2. all the screen issues/kinks have been worked out over time. or wait a year or so to get a new ipad.

Well you will be very reassured, ixodes, because nobody is saying 'accept anything Apple puts out'.

It's possible to tell people to pursue an exchange if they are not satisfied with a product AND to say that 13 returns is unreasonable and that it's time to just get a refund and walk away.

Does it have tint? It needs to be neutral white.
Does it have LED light exposure under the bezel?

There can be a very very few ipads out there nearly perfect, but selling for only $850 is just wrong... it should be raised to $2000 minimum. Supply and demand.

Some further thoughts...

It's important to remember that this is a forum of public opinion. Everyone has the same right to share their experiences. Why not be open minded & respectful of the person? To immediately go on the attack seems unreasonable.

Let's assume for purposes of conversation, that the OP is being unreasonable or complaining needlessly. That's still no reason for some of the downright vicious attacks I see on the forum.

If someone feels so strongly and hates a stranger that badly, it's easy to not respond. It's easy to just move on to the next thread.

But to carry out these rants against a fellow Apple customer seems very extreme and uncalled for. Failing to give someone the benefit of the doubt, when they share is failing to be a good member of the Apple community.

Even if it does turn out the person is a troll. Let the mods do their job. They are very good at it.

I happen to believe that MacRumors is a fantastic, highly useful web site.

Too bad so many of the members choose to act out like they're in charge.

Excellent post, ixodes. How would you feel if a poster smeared opposing views as 'yes-men who accept anything Apple puts out'?

Remember that anonymity breeds courage. The internet is the CB radio of the new century.

The OP is a bad iPad magnet. Hard to believe that you could get 13 bad ones in a row. I've been thinking about getting one but stories like this make me think I should wait a couple of months for Apple to iron out the QC issues.

Absolutely hard to believe, and probably not something you should base your purchase on.

Maybe the OP should stay away from electronics, move to a deserted island and be happy with nature. :D

For all of those criticizing the buyer - get off your high horses. iPads are expensive. You have the right to be completely Satisfied. And if it takes 20 tries. So be it. To this day I'm angry about Having to tighten my MacBooks screws weekly. I've taken it in, they've changed the bottom twice, no matter, screws come off weekly. That's unacceptable. Had I been a pain as this user seems to be during my first week, I would've gotten a better product.

So, to the poster: I'm on your side!

Have your eyes checked. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macular_degeneration

At what price does one lose/gain this right? If the iPad was $50 would you have the right? what if it was $200?

Also, what if Apple can't satisfy the consumer - can't meet his or her standards? I would think a refund would be reasonable, do you?

EDIT: do the MacBook screw threads actually thread into the bottom of the chassis or another part which isn't being replaced? If you tighten them twice weekly that's a good way to strip the @#$% out of the chassis' threads and no wonder it's falling apart.

Keep trying until you're satisfied or until they cut you off.

Apple makes MILLIONS of these things. They also have a pile of cash (so it's not like you're driving a little shop out of business). Finally, it's not like they're throwing these away when you return them. They go into a remanufacturing process and are put to use (for warranty replacements).

You'll get ANOTHER good one (as you indicated you've had one but you exchanged it for color)

I find it highly suspect that someone would get 10 defective devices in a row (I'm throwing out the ones that were exchanged because the OP couldn't decide on a color or having 4G or not). At what point do you just take a refund and buy something else. Or get a new one from a different store?

While you do have a right to vent your dissatisfaction would it not be prudent to use one of the MANY existing threads, rather then starting multiple threads with basically the same content?

What I want to be clear, is the moderators to merge or close without warning duplicate threads, and anchor one of the threads for people to post in and bulk up their problems.

This would achieve returning this section of Macrumors to usability for other issues and questions.

THIS. Stop pursuing perfection and either enjoy the device or take your money elsewhere.
