I think i've watched just about every new iPad video on youtube now, and lots show speed comparisons with the iPad 2, however this also allows you to compare screens. I think nearly all show an obvious colour difference.

This one is quite obvious, go to about 2:30:

This one more so, he even mentions the colour it looks very yellow to me - even through a youtube video , you need to move to about the 5 minute mark.

It's hardly only between Apple and him. If true he did return thirteen iPads it drives the overal price up on the product. I find this story stretches the imagination.

Hmm, let's see, since 2010, the only changes in prices for iPads have been price drops for the previous generation when the new one comes out. I find your claim stretches the imagination.

People love to say those of us returning iPads are the vast minority, and yet still others claim we're driving up prices. Pretty sure it can't be both.

heck... one more photo

Ok, I have one more old photo on my iPhone. This one was yellowish and had what I can best describe as a wrinkle in the bottom left corner of the display. This pic is of a screen with a very light gray background, because a totally white screen kept messing with my phone's white balance, not showing accurately what this screen's issues really looked like.

I think this is the last of the pics that I have. I don't have pics of the other handful that I returned because of screen problems. But it's interesting that people are commenting more on how many I returned than actually addressing the pics I have posted.

So you're saying if someone has an issue, they shouldn't post about it, shouldn't let others kow, should just return it and keep quiet? You are on the wrong website my friend.

13+ iPads? I would be inclined to say that they are doing something wrong...

The bottom line is...

for a product which touts its screen as a major selling point, there seem to be more than a few complaints of craptastic screens on multiple returns. I don't like Apple trolls, but when you have loyal repeat customers voicing this stuff, there seems to be a problem.

I will still line up on launch day for the I Phone 5, but the new IPad has been a big disappointment. I will say though that after two returns, I made the decision to live with what I have. If I chose otherwise, I would have just gotten a refund. No point in serial returns in my view.

I plan to get an iPhone 5 as well... though I don't think I'm going to try for launch day this time.

After 13th iPads, you might want to ponder whether or not an iPad is right for you at all... How can you possibly have such an unlucky streak?

I've definitely pondered whether I want one now or not. I know a few people with iPad 2's and I've always thought they were great. Never saw any that were ugly like the majority of iPad 3's I've had. I'd almost consider buying an iPad 2, but I just can't convince myself to get old technology.

I'll make my decision in a few months about whether I want to try again. For the $1000 I spent on the iPad including AppleCare and taxes (which I was refunded), I may just opt for a MacBook Air instead.

I picked up a week 15 iPad from the Apple store today and the display was multicolored again. I do have a week 14 iPad from Best Buy with a very good uniform white display, but there are a few specks of dust under the glass. I think i'm done searching for the "perfect" iPad, which to me is only a good uniform display + no dust/dead pixels. The display bothers me more than the dust, so I'm keeping the Best Buy one. Guess i'm just unlucky :(

I bought one iPad 3, I took it to the startup table, downloaded a movie to make sure there was no wifi issue and while it downloaded (wifi was great) ran it through the dead pixel test pages. It was perfect. I guess I am glad macrumors hosts threads to demonstrate the customer idiocy Apple has to tolerate, but if you are reading this thread, don't be concerned.

As if this thread were the only one complaining about problems? As if your singular experience has any bearing on what someone else will experience?

If you went to a restaurant where 30% of the diners got food poisoning and you didn't, would you tell everyone not to be concerned?

How bout you just tell the world you got a good iPad and skip the advice column?

Poor analogy pal. How about if you went to a restaurant and sent your order back to the chef 13 times because it wasn't asthetically pleasing -- the parsley was .13 mm to the right, or the butter was too yellow? That's a lot closer to the OP's issue than food poisoning.

what would have happened if your dead pixel test failed? Would you still have come to this thread to be an *******?

Going by your record, I would phone the apple store and make sure there is at least a dozen phones in stock, do youself a favour, open the box at the store, as for the 13 iPads, there is somthing wrong with this story, for some weird reason, I ended up reading the whole 9 pages in this thread, Im trying to read between the lines of the op's posts, and I dont buy a word the op says, sorry guy, but I dont think you have even purchased an iPad in the first place, just my opinon.

Which makes you a sick person and a sadist. Well done. At least you have the courage to admit you have this sickness. FYI, this is a very real psychological problem. :)

I have great company, here.

They should ban the OP from the Apple Store and Apple products all together. After two bad iPads, I would just say (f) it and not get one at all.

Agreed!

i don't understand why these people don't give up, so many threads like this nowadays...

I think many are just BS thread from people seeking attention.

It's hardly only between Apple and him. If true he did return thirteen iPads it drives the overal price up on the product. I find this story stretches the imagination. Secondly the op posted his story on this forum and opened himself up to discussion...whether the feedback to him is positive or negative.

Amen

No we are saying that after this many iPads the person is OCD. The forum is full f threads like this, the OP is just a little over the top compared to the others.

Interesting. If the forums are full of threads like this, it's related to some sort of OCD pandemy, right?

First, you (really) should stop talking about OCD since you probably don't know a thing about it... that kind of diagnosis, inappropriate and inexact, totally discredit everything you write here.

Second, I really wonder what make you so sure about the fact there is no problem with iPad 3rd gen (subpar) panel? And if the reason is just that these panels looks perfect to you and your usage, I think it's a poor argument.

This pandemic is more about sh*** panels (due to large volume economy) than anything else... Persons who keep trying are optimistic, thinking they will have a correct and homogenous display. This is where they are probably wrong.

Keep trying after 13 units is NOT OPTOMISTIC. There should come a time when the op should realize that Apple's hardware is just not up to what he thinks it should be. People these day feel they are "entitled" to perfect for what They pay. Even a $100,000 car is far from perfect in everyone's eyes.

Like others here, Apple should ban the buyer and ask them to go elsewhere for his quest for "perfect" hardware!

Yep, Apple should definitely ban customers and ask them to go elsewhere. This is what business is about.

It would be in Apple's best interest to cut their losses with the extremely OCD flaws. You are only hearing a few people discuss problems (usually the same over and over). People who use it for the way apple intended don't come on here complaining. Now I can accept the fact that there a flaws on some of these displays, but once you get a few people bumping saturation levels and how to test for, or what week is yours... you guys are CRAZY! Apple just needs to cut their losses with you!

Seriously, stop writing about things you don't even know: this OCD thing is pointless. As for Apple losses, I'm sure they have really competent employes working on it: so your analysis is probably pointless too.

Since the subject is obviously iPad display, you probably noted that many people (including me) posted pictures of defective screens. Maybe you can post a pic of your iPad 3rd gen screen to bring something useful here?
