My vote's for a 17" iPad, heck I'd even take a 18". I had a Dell 18" tablet that they don't make anymore which was really awesome to use mainly at home or at hotels. It's just a shame that a huge 14" screen would be wasted on iOS.

the 12.9" pro is already kinda big...and I'm a fan of the larger device sizes...will have to see what use cases would benefit from this

On vaca pre-pandemic, I was on a cruise and doing a rather boring excursion. I saw a guy using his iPad as a camera. It looked so strange, I have never seem someone use an iPad as a camera in the wild, and it looked just as ridiculous as you could imagine.

Meant to be 'under my breath', I said 'Someone stop that man from beating that woman with a brick'. A whole bunch of people actually heard me (I have a deep voice 'that carries') and laughed, some way too much...

Imagine someone with a 16" iPad, holding it up to get a picture. In high winds, will they take flight? Will high winds cause the iPad to actually bludgeon their intended subject? Will it block the available light causing embarrassing re-does? People will apparently use anything with a camera in it, no matter how silly it looks. Yikes...

Can anyone imagine a 20" iPad? (Laugh, but could someone in Apple be imagining it?) When is bigger just too big?

Glad to see more size options. But looks like 11” Pro is not getting any major change. This might mean no mini LED for 11” Looks like Apple will be focusing more on 12.9” and the larger model.

Eventually Pro lineup of iPads might not include the 11”.

I assume anyone buying that big an iPad would be largely using it as a laptop replacement - docked to a magic keyboard and used on a desk.

Personally, I held my 11" iPad Pro while standing under the hot sun for 2 hours during my school's sports day and my back was practically complaining afterwards. :(
Did you have a magic keyboard attached? The keyboard almost doubles the weight of the ipad pro. it's almost the same weight of a laptop with the keyboard attached.

I don't think it's all *that* heavy. It adds a lot of functionality to the IPP. It is 'heavy', but I'd rather have something that feels, and so far IS, durable. Something like that that was cheap and 'garbage' would really suck when it finally dies. I wish it somehow provided edge protection, but that could make it rather awkward in use. There might not be a 'perfect solution', but there rarely is. *shrug*

Interesting, but I'm not seeing a use case for going from 12.9" to 14". My main requirement for a large iPad is using ForScore to read sheet music, and my 12.9" M1 Pro will be sufficient for that for years to come. I got the new iPad mini for handheld use.

Looking to finally replace my 10.5” iPP. I would buy the 14 inch iPad to use as a second monitor next to the my 16” MBP and for editing photos in Lightroom with Apple Pencil.

I don't see the issue, other than the ipad's inferior camera. Maybe he just wanted a really good view of his subjects. On a 20" iPad I'd be all in (well, ignoring the crappy OS and lack of hardware niceties like a kickstand). A tablet that large would only be used at home, or somewhere I could workstation it like work or a hotel. I own a 18" Dell Windows tablet that I absolutely loved a few years ago, I dusted it off this morning after reading this and it's still as cool as it was back then.

It was attached to the Smart Keyboard, folded on its back as a protective backing of sorts. I didn't get the magic keyboard as its in ability to fold back on itself proved to be more a dealbreaker than I was prepared to deal with. The sun, standing for long hours, and me not properly taking care of my back and joints when I was serving out my military conscription in my youth. It's not very heavy in itself, but I guess every bit adds up.

The iPad's camera is actually pretty good, and I have used it for a fair amount of photo-taking and video-recording myself, just saying. The handy part comes when I can edit the video footage directly in lumafusion, without needing to airdrop it over from my iPhone.

Is the 12.9" iPad too small for you to have both documents open side by side?

Doable but not comfortable. My eyes aren’t what they used to be.

Granted, part of it is because I find it annoying needing to manually crop the margins for each PDF I’m viewing. I wish GoodReader had an auto-crop or fit to height function.

Plus the larger display would be more convenient when I’m doing split view as well.

Oh I don't disagree, I just meant the iPhones have better cameras if you are looking to maximize. I was just opining that maybe the person wanted a larger screen to get his pictures dialed in just right in terms of positioning and what not.

yeah I used to have a smart keyboard with my ipad pro and it was a chunky boy with it attached. I hope they can reduce the weight of the keyboard in its next iteration. Any little weight reduction helps. especially if you are bringing the ipad on the go with you. I didn't realize how hefty the keyboard + ipad pro was until I tried to pick it up one handed. The total weight is about 3 pounds.

Only way I will be tempted by 14 inch is of the bezels are that small and are the size of the 12.9

I like to use my iPad Pro with sidecar as a touchscreen version of MacOS. I predominantly use it with Lightroom, Illustrator, and Photoshop. If the size difference is as noticeable going from 11"-12.9" then I will be interested for sure.

Hell yeah!

18” and a polygonal modeler and I could go iPad only.

Won’t somebody make a good 3D modeler for iOS please!?

My heart says yes, my wallet says no lol. We’ll see if the rumours are true and if yes what the price is. I have a 12.9 inch iPad currently and always prefer the largest touchscreen available for watching content and space for productivity.
