Anyone that thought the iPad was dead and about to be buried should be REALLY concerned about the Mac. The iPad sells twice as many units as the Mac.And to think some folks indicated the iPad was dead and about to be buried, you only need to take a good look at this thread. There is life in the old dog yet it seems!
It’s still valuable to know how many people “in the world” are concerned about the bug. If seven people are reporting it, but 2007 are reporting a different bug, then they will align resources to fix the most serious/most reported bugs first.Reporting bugs to Apple (through the normal feedback channels) is a full-time job. I sometimes wonder if they even use their own kit.
There’s a lot of folks that are effectively dumping everything into a filesystem bucket even if it doesn’t belong. “I can’t compile in the Files app” is not the same as “There’s no Xcode for the iPad.Zip compression is built in but if you feel you need another flavor of file compression, there are several apps (both free and cheap) that work with the filesystem. Likewise for terminals. I use iSH to directly manipulate files in the "Files" filesystem and extend shortcuts with scripts. As far as VSCode, there are also several code editors like "Code App" that work with it as well. Obviously it's not VSCode, but none of those specific apps you mentioned being absent on iOS speak to limitations in the filesystem but rather those developers just not making them for iPadOS.

There is no company that’s able to ship a software product with zero bugs. That’s been a reality since the beginning, they’ve just recently stopped pretending it was something they could do.So, all software companies just fix the most serious bugs (that allow them to release) and iteratively work on the pile of remaining bugs, some obscure, some obvious, all prioritized once every two weeks (most likely).
My thinking, as well. If Apple could finally cut the hamstring in iPadOS and make it a fully functional “computer”, I’d happily pass along my 2018.I would upgrade from my 12.9 2018 to it.
like with anything if you take care of your stuff you won't have a problem. my 12.9 pro has gone in my bag since launch and it has no such issues. These will be so backpack friendly, can't wait to see the broken screens on them.

So they're keeping the 12.9" and adding the 14.1"? Why not just replace the 12.9" with a 14.1" that has thinner bezels? And move the 11" up to 12" with thinner bezels. A 12" iPad with thinner bezels is what I really want so bad. The 12.9" feels big to me and the 11" is a bit cramped. Something in-between with an updated display would be perfect. BUT for me personally I don't see myself replacing my 12.9" M1 16GB RAM 1TB SSD iPad Pro anytime soon. There is just not scenario where that ever makes sense, it's too fast for what it is, even on iPadOS 16.
Certainly when this years 12.9 is rumoured to have reduced bezelsI actually started to wonder if this would be the case. New iPad Pro’s are 12 and 14 inch rather than 11 and 12.9.
And with some now casting doubts over a 12 inch MacBook, I wonder if this 12 inch device in development is actually the new iPad Pro…
Obviously pure speculation. But seemingly make more sense than a 11, 13 and 14 inch iPad Pro.
I will say it's par the course for anyone buying a specialised accessory designed to fit your current apple product (and only that product). You have to be prepared that it may not be compatible with the next model. Otherwise, go with a stand and wireless keyboard if you want to ensure backwards compatibility. It will irritate those who already own expensive Magic Keyboards, but bumping the screen size of the current iPad Pro tablets seems like a reasonable idea...
I might do it too, and maybe I'll finally sell off some of my old devices just to make room in my house!Wow! A massive iPad Display. I will instantly buy this. Guess I won't be buying a new iPad Pro this year. Thanks, Mr. Young.
Yes. Because you want one so badly. Apple has heard your pleas of anticipation and cries like a little schoolgirl. Will it feature a notch?
$1599 and not a dollar less.Starting at $1299. Calling it now.
They could make it flexible so's we can roll 'em up for swatting and chasing away stray cats and door-to-door salespeople!Makes sense. This will be called iPad Pro Max. Probably start at $1499 with a 512GB/16GB/M2 variant.
On vaca pre-pandemic, I was on a cruise and doing a rather boring excursion. I saw a guy using his iPad as a camera. It looked so strange, I have never seem someone use an iPad as a camera in the wild, and it looked just as ridiculous as you could imagine.
Meant to be 'under my breath', I said 'Someone stop that man from beating that woman with a brick'. A whole bunch of people actually heard me (I have a deep voice 'that carries') and laughed, some way too much...
Imagine someone with a 16" iPad, holding it up to get a picture. In high winds, will they take flight? Will high winds cause the iPad to actually bludgeon their intended subject? Will it block the available light causing embarrassing re-does? People will apparently use anything with a camera in it, no matter how silly it looks. Yikes...
Can anyone imagine a 20" iPad? (Laugh, but could someone in Apple be imagining it?) When is bigger just too big?
someone with poor eyesight may be able to hold an ipad, and see better than they could on a smartphone
things to think about before judging others.
He seemed fine. It was just an odd choice for a camera. It *can* be used as a camera, but should it be used as a camera *everywhere*? I mean, fine, you do you, in his case, but it still looks skep...
youre just doubling down on assuming someone else couldn't possibly have a justifiable reason to do what they're doing, that affects absolutely no one else, just so you can make it your problem, and cast judgement.
i say "it could be easier for them to see, possibly with poor vision"
"he seemed fine"
thank goodness our judgement call for people's health and well-being is based on "seemed fine"
I'm judgy? The guy was holding it over his head. He could barely see the screen, and in some pictures I think he was just winging it. But, of course why would I think it funny, and kinda cringey. I saw a person with a full SLR rig, and thought THATS funny and cringey too. A lot of work for a picture. Plus traveling with it too...
dear lord, you're so far deep into being upset over how other people live without affecting others that you can't climb out to see the reality of making things your problem that are neither
a) your problem
b) relevant
people with an expensive DSLR body and an assortment of lenses could be a hobbyist trying to get amazing shots of their journeys to keep for memory. and can be professionals making huge amounts of money selling stunning shots that are not accomplished with an iPhone.
"he could barely see the screen"
soooo someone who could barely see a large screen is better served....with a smaller screen?
would you care to...back off and leave humanity alone while people just enjoy their lives? if these kinds of things *really* bother you *so much* that you need to pay *that much* attention to someone else while you're allegedly on your own travels, you're welcome to buy a cabin deep in the woods and become a hermit.
