That would make the most sense.
Just my guess because the current Air and 11-inch Pro overlap too much. Apple already has to limit the storage options for the Air to reduce the overlap. The next generation Air will inch even closer if the 11-inch Pro is not more drastically changed for product differentiation.

Unless it comes with Finder or a Finder like easy to navigate filesystem, what exactly is the point?
It IS unbelievable how they don't understand that aspect. Just make iFinder, and give us free reign over a little section of disk space called My Documents. Navigate to a file that ends with .numbers, double poke on it, and up comes Numbers. Done. It all went to pieces (except in stronger terms) when they messed with Save and Save As... on OSX. It's all never recovered.

Because they can. Apple-holics will trip over each other to get one. Just wait until you start seeing people holding them up to take a picture! The joke's on them! 😂

At this point, if Apple doesn't plan to add mini-LED to the 11 inch iPad Pro, they should just remove it from the line up. It's already too close to the M1 iPad Air specs wise. Please don't make a M2 MacBook Pro equivalent in the iPad lineup, Apple.

Can't wait to see the larger iPad, it will be a big boy indeed

I see it is time to sell some more $350 keyboards! Can't keep that backwards compatibility for > 2 years!

I think it’s becoming clear now that the 11” Pro is done.

Would love to see a 16:9 aspect ratio. While I don't like Android at all, Samsung's latest tablet with the 14"+ display looked fantastic. My iPad is mainly a media-consumption device though, appreciate others may prefer the standard iPad aspect ratio.
I wouldn’t like that on the larger iPad Pro’s. 16:9 makes portrait mode completely useless and limits the versatility of the iPad. Sure, video’s would be nicer, but almost everything else would be worse.

It’s one of the main reasons I stay away from Samsung tablets even though I think the S8 lineup is great. The other main reason being ecosystem.

And here, I just bought the 5th gen 12.9. Of course they're coming out with a bigger one. Eh, in my experience, the ipads stay useful far longer; I've got a first gen 12.9 that the kiddos watch shows on just fine. Still, at that size, it'll likely be heavy enough to not casually carry around.

iPad Pro mini (11”), iPad Pro (12.9”), iPad Pro Max (14.1”)?

Or maybe they’ll even get rid of the 11” iPad Pro since the Air is catching up.
Not sure where Pro mini comes into it. But the Air isn’t catching up the iPad Pro… there’s still hardware features that differentiate the two.

Apple is bringing the same approach to their MacBook lineup… MacBook Air is 13” along with having a MacBook Pro at 13”, with two premium MacBook Pros 14” and 16”. Then looking at the totality of Macs… there’s iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Studio and potentially a Mac Pro.

The 12” will be for you then. The 14” will likely rock 16:9.

That 14" size would make an excellent auxiliary screen on the road for my current 14" MBPro and still be useful standalone. I hazard a guess the price would crowd or exceed $3k as my 11" iPad Pro 2TB with modem listed for nearly $2.1k and a similar speced 12.9" listed for nearly $2.4k. A cellular model could also be the hotspot for my MBPro.

Interesting times

They must be mirroring the MacBook lineup.

iPad Air - MacBook Air
11-inch iPad Pro - 13-inch MacBook Pro
12.9-inch iPad Pro - 14-inch MacBook Pro
14.1-inch iPad Pro - 16-inch MacBook Pro

Those specs scream hybrid, they are MacBook Pro like numbers. This might be able to run osx with the new "Magic Keyboard" which will cost a bit $$$.
The only way an M2 would be justified in an iPad is for better battery life (better efficiency cores from the A15). There is nothing about the current version of iPadOS or any of the apps in the pipeline from third-party developers that will even come close to taxing the current M1 iPad Pros. Very little software will bring an M1 MacBook Air to its knees which is already a hybrid without the touchscreen and the M1 iPad Pros have slightly better specs.

3 iPad Pro’s? the 11“ iPP is likely toast.

This will be a VERY niche product. For the price this will cost with a keyboard what is the draw for most people over a MBA M2 that the currently cheaper and more portable 12.9 wouldn’t offer? This will continue the great for artists who need a larger canvas theme but for everyone else… ?

It would also align with respect to how Apple does their Mac laptop lineup with the MBA getting the smaller screen and teh MBP getting the two larger sizes.

13" MBA
14" / 16" MBP
