They lowered the price significantly and people are still like, "drrrr, why no ethernet??"
I have no smart things, other than connected TVs. I'm fine with the protocol additions though. Everyone has a different need.In all honestly, who doesn't have an IoT at this day and age? At the very least, Apple should be equipping their home devices with Thread/Matter compatibility as standard and not an option for the higher model. It will make their devices perform better, especially for those just delving into the Apple world and already have other non-Apple home devices.
Why? If what you have is working, why spend the funds? Unless you’re going from HD version to 4KReally really nice and I wasn't expecting A15! Time to upgrade!
A great WiFi home network along with an amazing Router, Modem and Internet Speed the WiFi will suffice for streaming movies and TVIf you can't get a decent wifi signal, I suppose so. But if you can, wifi will very much work for streaming.
Yeah, that is a compelling reason for returning this one and just spending $30 more. If I HAD opened it, I wouldn't return it because it would feel wasteful to relegate a perfectly good item to refurbished or even trashed status, but since it's still factory sealed, why not? They'll just sell it to someone else at a discount.A12 to A15 is a very large jump. Whether it’s super noticeable in the short term, who knows. But A15 is a beast.
What in the world is thread support?
It would be nice if you could solder out the extra 64 GB and stick them into an iPad. That would save a lot of money. 😄What do people even use the storage space for? I wish it gave me the option to save videos from my local library on my Apple TV. If you don't do games or anything of that nature, is there really any way to use the larger capacity?
Thank you. I’m over in the states on 11/04 so think I’ll pick one up & just buy a new power cable
You should see the roku lineThere should only be one model of Apple TV. Apple’s insistence on segmenting features by storage size, or physical size of iPhones, leads to massive customer confusion and greater development/manufacturing costs. This is even more problematic given that Apple TV has very few compelling reasons (apps) to upgrade to 128 GB storage.
Outside tv in the dusty desert and family members that want an Apple TV ATTACHED to the outside tvI don’t see why anybody would buy this over a $40 Roku.

Amazing people just can't stop complaining about the lack of a single feature that people don't necessarily need and that it's $50 cheaper as a starting price?
Even with the *same* features it's $30 cheaper than the previous Apple TV 4K and you get double the storage...
