Just recieved my new 13" without Touch Bar, and my speakers sound like rice crispies !!! snap crack and ***** pop .
Yes, this is right out the box, macos.
It's random, just sitting there doing nothing and POP ! really frustrating as this is a beautiful laptop. Absolutley stuning display, stupidly thin, and the speakers sound incredible, even better than my bluetooth speakers. Why oh why does there always have to be some issue with these machines? my iPhones have all been perfect, why does every MacBook have some kind of issue :( #speakergate.

Steps taken: I have updated to latest OS build, reinstalled from CMD+R, and reinstalled from CMD+Option+R, issue is still present in each case, and I hear POP when booting sometimes too.

Ok so it is now almost 100% sure that the couse of the problem is Bootcamp.

BUT is there ANY one have the problem without touching Bootcamp/windows ????

If there is.. I'm cancelling my order right now...

Yes, me ! and just to add to my previous post, it does this on fully charged battery (not plugged in), partially charged, charging, and fully charged plugged in.

It seems that your issue is different from all of ours, as ours were caused by installing Windows on the 15" variants. Sorry to hear about your speakers.

Does anyone know how to download these drivers. I downloaded them on my Mac side of the laptop. Does that automatically update the windows side as well?

Once it was downloaded there was nothing in regards to audio drivers or anything.

You need to bring them over to windows and run the setup.exe. You can also run the Apple Software Update application in Windows.

I ran the Apple Software Update application and there was nothing there related to audio drivers. Just iTunes. How do I make sure the proper drivers are installed?

If nothing shows up then you most likely have the latest version. If you want to check anyway click start button, type "devmgmt.msc". Look for one of the audio devices named Cirrus Logic sound drive, double click, driver tab a note the version # and date. The one I have is dated 11/22/2016. Version 6.6001.3.36.

Cool beans - got it thank you.

so I thought if I had the volume down I would be fine but I think I mulched my speakers when I booted in windows. Can anyone confirm if high frequencies come out of both of their speakers? because mine now definitely only plays mid and low in the left speaker.

That's the sign you've been hit. I lost all high frequencies on both speakers before my replacement. The only sure way to stop windows from playing sound through your speakers is to bypass them with headphones. I know it's too late now, but hopefully it helps when you're installing on a replacement! Hope this helps.

What is sad is I updated the driver right after it happened. wish I could have done it in OS before switching

Just got my new macbook pro 15" delivered today.
Just so that I'm on the safe side - if you install the latest bootcamp on Mac OS, will there be any issue when I install Windows?

Or do I need to install the latest bootcamp on Mac OS, install Windows using headphones, then update audio drivers on Windows through Apple Software Updater to avoid this issue.

keep the headphones in to be safe! should be fixed by the latest update, but I will say I was 100 percent up to date on the OS side but when I switched to windows there was an apple software update, so again, put the headphones in

Is there some sample audio or video we can play to test for this?

It is the latest driver. And yes I noticed the lower volume as well. Maybe that's the "fix".

unfortunately you are not alone with this issue. I've exactly the same snap crack/pop coming from left/right speaker, just like an electrostatic discharge with my brand new 13" macbook pro late 2016 (non touch bar with 16 GB of ram). Somehow It's completely random and not reproducible.

I'm thinking about to return this unit, since i also have another issue, maybe related with software, i don't know, for example, some animations are very glitchy/slow, the worst one is with the login screen. since it's supppppperrrrrr slow and completely freezes if i try to change the keyboard.

Can anyone please upload video with the blown speakers?
Mine is also have some popping sound randomly coming out of right speaker (13" base model).
I previously used bootcamp and still have the issue on MacOS. No cracking sound while playing music but can it be worse later, should I contact Apple?

I've noticed this on mine, totally random, 13" non touch bar. The odd crackle or pop every now and then I can't reproduce. I'm wondering software to be honest.

I don't think it is software related, otherwise the crackle/pop would not appear during the boot (black screen with apple logo). Maybe it's fixable with a new firmware, if not, it's an hardware fault or a bad assembly unit.

New MacBook finally arrived this morning straight from China (2.7/460/1TB), I'm using winclone to image my bootcamp Win 10 as we speak. Speakers sound good on this thing in Mac, made sure everything completely up to date x10 (even though it was already). I'm still plugging headphones first boot of Win 10 on this even though it's imaged lol.

I don't get the noise during boot, only randomly after having logged in.
