Good intention, saving people from downloading a big file.
But without the explanation above, anyone would think Code: means a Terminal command.
Please post links as links and Code as Code to avoid such confusion in the future.
In any case I now have the full installer, so your code aka link is not necessary.
Thanks anyway.
I apologize for the misunderstanding. I’ll do better next time.
I friendly advice, if I may, don’t copy-paste and run in Terminal everything you think is “code”. You may end up installing malware. https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...e-for-terminal-commands.2479927/post-34509414

@FatLouie I switched a Tahoe 26.5 virtual machine from Region - US to Canada, Vancouver as the closest city in Date & Time and I got the message.
TimeZoneUpdate.jpg
The update was downloaded in /System/Library/AssetsV2/, not in /Library/Updates

@katbel I did the same in Sequoia 15.6.1 & 17.7.7 virtual machines and the message was not shown, although com_apple_MobileAsset_TimeZoneUpdate was modified. Are you still on a macOS beta channel?

Thanks for the apology. As for the friendly advice, I most certainly don't "copy-paste and run in Terminal everything I think is 'code'."
Because it was your post, I never even suspected the possibility that it was malware. That idea never popped up!
I think I must be more careful .....

No, I’m not . Regular Sequoia and as you wrote, I saw the TimeZoneUpdate modified because I checked the folder you suggested 👍
but I didn’t get the prompt as I did on my devices.

The full installer for 15.7.8 has been released into the public beta channel.
Same build (24G806), different link: https://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/36/15/122-81364-A_DBMVO0HUY9/zchn6q6mhxmtqf396kneghtqac2bgnwbkq/InstallAssistant.pkg

@bogdanw: Off topic somewhat, but have you seen a macOS Tahoe installer probably download on the sly by Software Update? Using CCC to backup a disk, I noticed a huge install macOS Tahoe installer being copied and immediately looked at the source in CCC (thinking to delete it later) but it was in what I can only assume is a hidden Volume, something I have never seen before. The name was something like "VolumesApplications/Install macOS Tahoe.dmg" in the CCC Task filter. And no that "VolumesApplications/" is not a typo, there was no space!
When I looked 5 min later, that Volumes... had disappeared. I had "Remove excluded files" selected in the Destination Options, but that Volumes.... was in the source. Mysterious going ons indeed.
How to check if that hidden Volume exists?

Well, it seems that the boffins at Apple Skunkworks have been at it again. We have a new update in the
Sequoia Beta channel for those who are interested.

Looks like the boffins at Cupertino Skunk Works have pulled it off again ...
