Hi, what blinking issue are you referring to? Is it the strobing/pulsating when computer is under load and hot?

No blinking mostly after it comes out of sleep. It seem like a if you disconnect the DVI cable for a split second than turn it back on again real fast that kind of look goes black for a split second with a horizontal band going across and it does it somewhat random but more towards after sleep mode when running for awhile less frequent. I had this since I first connected the 30 in to the system in the beginning some the Ram has nothing to do with it. Happened with 4, 6 and 8 and not under any real load either. This is a Apple issue with the graphics card or as some may think 10.5.6. Lots of complaints on the forums on display issues. This also could be directly related to Apples DVI dual connector as well. 100 bucks for a adapter is pretty lame when it should be for free. Just because Apple decided to change the connection a lot of 23 and 30 inch folks get screwed in there decision and frankly for what purpose is the question. My theory to shut out other display manufacturers another marketing move just like saying 8gb won't work in a 15 inch when there trying to push 17 for more money. But hey that is my theory and there starting to get a little too closed system and that is not good for us users. Maybe that is a whole different thread that should be chatted about. But on the blinking just waiting for Apple and a fix. It does not bother me too much but they do need to make this right

Apparently that does not apply to the 2.93 model (or presumably the 2.66 either). I've been using 8GB in my 2.93 15" for a while now with no issues.

And again a Public thank you for your vote of confidence in letting us all know it is working. Your posts made up my mind to install it.

How can you use 2 HDD in one laptop computer?
or does it have to HDD's in one compartment?

Great question you have to remove the optical drive and install the second SSD there. It is a mini Sata connection so there are vendors like Maxupgrades which sell a bracket and the connection piece to install http://www.maxupgrades.com/istore/i...&product_id=186&CFID=2062128&CFTOKEN=40627719

Now the DVD drive has three main screws that you remove than really only one connector that you have to remove to uninstall the DVD drive than the bracket accepts 4 screws to mount the drive onto . Than a connector you need to add to the mini Sata to work properly on the HD sata connection. Than there is a little trick here on the DVD drive there is a little bracket towards the connection side that you need to remove and install on the bracket . Than all three screws are put back in place to install. You also have to wiggle it around just a little. Now I did not get any instructions with mine but after looking at it for about 5 minutes you can figure it out . On a scale of 1-5 easy to hard I would say maybe a 3. Not really that hard . Than boot up and you will have to format it and away you go depending on if you want it for storage or Raid 0 which all of that can be done in disk utlity.

Just wanted to update this. Lloyd Chambers a good friend of mine that owns Digiloyd website is reporting that OWC confirms 8gb of Ram in the 2.66 and 2.93 models and will be updating there website. You can read from Lloyds blog here http://diglloyd.com/diglloyd/blog.html

The good news for us users is now there should be no questions when it comes to warranty work on our boxes.

And the fog starts to clear.............

Thanks Guy.

Okay now I will make my marketing comment as well. Apple IMHO tried to direct all sales into the 17 with 8gbs of Ram , this all had to do with marketing. Just like no Matte for the 15 inch. We ALL know the 17 inch has less sales than the 15 inch since they have been out. This was a marketing move on Apples part to sell the 17 inch unibody by making it different than the 15 inch with the ability to have 8 gbs of Ram and a Matte screen. Well I feel bad for the 17 inch folks that fell into that trap. Now you want a Matte screen you can have it done for 200 . Just google that. So that clear advantage Apple tried to create with the 17 just vanished. Sale numbers will prove most folks buy the 15 inch. I don't agree with this type of marketing. This leaves a lot of egg on there face. I love Apple products don't get me wrong , spent thousands and thousands of dollars on there stuff but I am all for open platform thinking and let the buyer decide not marketing decisions like this. Okay off soap box

This is an excellent news.

I don't know if Apple is trying to increase 17 in. sales with this strategy, but it could be a wrong strategy/marketing against users.

Thats fair enough, but there are a lot of people who will still buy the 17" for various reasons. In my case battery life and HD resolutions sell it to me. I still have a 15". But you have a fair point.

I agree and i don't want to discount the folks that are looking at real estate either. There certainly is something to having a 17 inch laptop.

Ugh, now if those guys at OWC had just listened to me (a long time customer) and tried this earlier I could have saved $300 or something.

Well they do have to buy or borrow the actually boxes to test and as always not feasible or in a timely manner. But I do like OWC and give them a lot of credit. Just the price alone between Apples 1200 and there 719 makes it worth it. LOL

would be good if Apple acknowledge that it will support 8gb in the 15"

I'd prefer a 15" rather than the 17" for portability...but want the 8gb ram option.

I've been a MacBook Pro 2.66GHz owner with 8GB of ram since March the 12th. It works flawlessly like Guy stated but I don't know how to test it.

I'm going to make a YouTube video soon about this.

If you have VMWare Fusion or Parallels or VirtualBox, you can try and execute something above 4GB ram. Thats usually where we ran into problems before.

I refuse to install Windows on my MacBook pro. The only Mac that has Windows is my Mac Pro (Mac Os X + Windows + Linux + Solaris + BSD). Is there a way to execute something above 4GB ram on Mac OS X ? I tried Maya 2009 Unlimited for Mac running Maxwell and the maximum i can reach is 3.8GB.

So does this mean that if I bought a 2.66 or 2.93 GHz 15" MBP right now, it should be able to support 16, 32, 64, etc. GB of RAM assuming the proper RAM chips were being sold to the public?

16, 32, 64 gb?? This is not the mac pro buddy.

8 gb is tops.
