Didn't watch any of the videos and don't really care, I'll never actually try and bend my phone as I'm not an idiot.
Total click bait!

Well if that works for you then fine but, it’s not for me, the ability to walk into an Apple Store, anywhere in the world, is a real deal breaker. In the 12 years of having iPhones in our home we have made one claim on our contents insurance and it was sorted out within a few days. It didn’t affect our premium for the following year from what I remember. My wife shut her iPhone 5 I think it was in the car door after it slipped out of her pocket as she was closing it. I’m sure you can walk into any Apple Store and get an instant replacement, but if I had AC it would have to be done via post anyway as I live 40 miles away from my nearest store and it would be an added hassle for me. When my Apple Watch stopped working, Apple sent a box and I got a replacement within 5 days, not through AppleCare. Got a feeling my insurance company would be about the same as Apple in the speed of replacing to be honest.
As I said, whatever works for people and if paying for expensive insurance gives piece of mind, then thats great. I always use a decent case and screen protector which protects my phone and gives it the aesthetic I prefer. Hate using iPhones out of cases as I hate the feel and I'd smash it fairly quickly anyway.Well if that works for you then fine but, it’s not for me, the ability to walk into an Apple Store, anywhere in the world, is a real deal breaker.
Incidentally, I’ve never broken, lost or, had an Apple product stolen (I hope it remains that way) so, it’s fair to say they’ve had their money out of me.
MagBack case, dropped on my kitchen floor.Which case was it (so that I never buy it) and what surface did it land on?
Who carries their phone naked and intentionally tries to break it?This was my initial thoughts, so i checked youtube if there is someone else who tried to bend new iphones (especially pro max) and found more videos but this one seem to me like it is best among others. (some videos were so edited, that it was a problem to tell if it really is 15 pro max on these videos)
Bend test starting on 6:44
So what do you think? Maybe that phone who has Zack was one of a kind and it is not a problem of every 15 pro maxes or maybe it is, who knows (time will show) 🤷♀️
And that hologram is probably already copied over to the counterfeit devices. 😊Zack tested the regular 15s and they all survived the bend test. This seems mostly a Pro Max problem.
I didn’t know about the secret hologram on every box to prove it is genuine Apple - Cool!
Some of us (I’m willing to bet magnitudes of order higher than .01% = 1 in 10,000) don’t see the point of spending about £1000 on a phone with a smartly designed, reasonably premium case made of metal and toughened glass, only to enclose it in a relatively cheap protective case. So for us - even though we are in a minority - the ruggedness of the phone matters.Who carries their phone naked and intentionally tries to break it?
Almost no one....?maybe . 01% of users go careless...
Get a good case, problem solved.... move on.
You'll replace it again with another phone without a case. Some of us (I’m willing to bet magnitudes of order higher than .01% = 1 in 10,000) don’t see the point of spending about £1000 on a phone with a smartly designed, reasonably premium case made of metal and toughened glass, only to enclose it in a relatively cheap protective case. If it doesn’t matter to you, then you can safely ignore videos and forum chats about it.
That’s an interesting assumption that you are making there. I replace my phone infrequently (I’m currently using an iPhone 11; previous to that I had a 6S). The thing about iPhones is that they are (usually) very robust: they don’t break easily, even without a case. In many years of case-less ownership (since the 3G) and more drops than I can remember, I have damaged one phone (back glass). You'll replace it again with another phone without a case.
So why even talk about it? Enjoy changing phones more frequently than 1 of 2 people in the world.
Every year many youtubers attempt to monetize the iPhone launch as best they can for ad revenue. That’s an interesting assumption that you are making there. Jerry's probably doing CrossFit to have above-nerd strength. There has been several others trying to replicate what Jerry did and been unsuccessful on video. Jerry hasn't tried another Pro Max, so either something was off with that one, or he isn't saying. He is an Android fanboy anyways.
So it’s you who replaces your phone more frequently than most then?! 😉Every year many youtubers attempt to monetize the iPhone launch as best they can for ad revenue.
If there's one token outlier incident they then produce content emphasizing that alleged design failure hoping it is flawed by design.
Other than batterygate, bendgate or antennagate there is little to complain about. Heck, Apple addresses such concerns within and outside warranty.
Even if I love the industrial design of Apple products those of us who want to avoid avoidable problems and not insist they are right will opt for a case. Could be a thin case or even a rugged case to avoid user caused damages from drops & collisions.
I do not mind paying for a $10-20 case if it means the iPhone I sell in 2 years time gets the best return.
In one video he has some special food as a sponsor 🤔Jerry's probably doing CrossFit to have above-nerd strength.
maybe, i wonder why he couldn't break iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus back glass?Jerry's probably doing CrossFit to have above-nerd strength.
Are you implying that he is a Sailor man?In one video he has some special food as a sponsor 🤔
I provide help to people who can only afford used and hand me downs. 😉So it’s you who replaces your phone more frequently than most then?! 😉
Exactly, he loves the clicks.. he's click bait. There has been several others trying to replicate what Jerry did and been unsuccessful on video. Jerry hasn't tried another Pro Max, so either something was off with that one, or he isn't saying. He is an Android fanboy anyways.
He needs to fund his charity works!Exactly, he loves the clicks.. he's click bait.
For the most part I put as must stock in these videos as I do when the government says they're here to helpI owned and used the hell out of a Pixel phone Zach of JerryRig snapped like a graham cracker. It’s still here and still fine. It was in a simple Pixel cloth case with a thin plastic frame.
Well Honestly one of the reason I came back to visit macrumors was, that it was trending number 1 on yesterday mostly focusing on the overheating though, on Apple News "techonology" tab. They were articles about problems consumers from USA today, The Guardian, etc. headlines like "Too hot to handle" etc just making the news as usual about the iphone 15. Either way the only phone affected by the shatter is the Pro max model not the regular one. The main focus is on the heating though.Ok, don't buy it then, no skin off my nose.
In other news I just did a little googling and I stand corrected on a previous statement. I see Jerry has done this with other phones, and guess what....other phones bend and break too. But I don't find a lot of fanfare and press about it.....weird....maybe don't deliberately try to break your expensive phone.
I have the 15 PM and have been very happy with it, no issues, even despite two drops.
I haven’t had any overheating issues, I would figure by now most people would know news about Apple tends to be sensationalized.Well Honestly one of the reason I came back to visit macrumors was, that it was trending number 1 on yesterday mostly focusing on the overheating though, on Apple News "techonology" tab. I was just minding my own business doing the daily puzzle from yesterday and it curiously popped up, I was surprised Apple even allowed that.
