After 2 days, I’m not living the 17 pro. It feels too big and bulky compared to my 15 pro. The 15 pro seems like the perfect size.

Same. The 17 Pro just feels a tad too big and heavy.

The 15 Pro had the same width as the iPhone X and weight wasn't too bad at 187g. I find it more comfortable to use compared to the latest iPhone lineup (yes, I've used all 3).

I have a 15 pro and just upgraded to a 17 pro. There was a trade in promo through AT&T where the phone was free.

difference in size and weight:

height: 0.14" (2.4%) taller
width: 0.05" (1.8%) wider
thickness: 0.02" (6.3%) thicker

weight: 0.67oz (10.2%) heavier

It's really not much of a change. But you do get a 0.2" diagonal screen size increase and the screen to body ratio goes from 88.23% to 90.09%. To me, it seems well worth the increase (I actually went from a 15pm to a 17pm, and I don't notice the size or weight difference at all)

What seem like small differences on paper actually can feel a lot more significant when using the phones in hand.

kinda off topic but does anyone know if the 17 PM speakers get as loud or louder than my 15 PM? I heard it might be lower volume but can't really find anything concrete

Apple just forgot the thinner and lighter

The base iPhone 17 and Air are both thinner and lighter than the 15 Pro. Unfortunately, they're also taller and wider and those few mm increase makes a big difference in hand comfort for me (small hands and RSI).
Air has worst camera bump in history does not feel thinner after case which is necessity.

Yep one handed use with the 6.3” phones is a challenge for sure. 15 Pro was/is manageable because it’s more compact (almost perfect size imo after the Mini’s).

I also jumped from a 15 Pro to a 17 Pro. I am noticing the weight too.

In the 17 Pro's defense ...

I did have a wallet case on my 15 Pro that was dying. Hence I went "naked" (no case) for a while and got myself a MagSafe ESR wallet.

When I got the 17 Pro, I did get a Spigen clear case and obviously my wallet.

Hence, I think I got used to the naked 15 Pro with just the new wallet. Now with the 17 Pro I have its added weight, plus a case, and the wallet.

I am sure in another week or so I'll get used to it. I do like the MagSafe wallet that I can remove and wireless charge if I need to.

Having used the Air for a week - it is an AMAZING phone. I miss it daily and I believe you will enjoy it. I’m jealous and hope you report your usage as you get it and use it :D
I have had my Air since September 19 going on 68 days now. I just checked my battery health and it is still at 100% with 55 cycle count.

Over the past 8 days I have averaged about 28% battery usage per day. YouTube drawing most of my time, because I'm enjoying my retirement, at 12% of my time using my Air. It is almost 4pm and I have not charged my Air since this morning and no MagSafe battery pack attached and the battery percentage is now at 89%. My iPhone began the day with 100% charge. Not bad for my use case and I have "Always On" activated on my Air.

During the day I typically use my iPad Pro for video consumption and leave my phones alone. I don't access my iPhone until I'm about to sleep so I end up catching up on a few things then a quick game before lights out . . . my typical iPhone usage these days.

Wanted to hold out for the 18 Pro or anniversary phone because of the potential for real camera improvements (main sensor update? VA?) but the battery life on my 15 Pro is so bad. And it wasn’t great even on launch day.

So I’m getting the 17 Pro. Feels like a good point to update anyway because of:

  • all the wireless standard upgrades (WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6, 5G Advanced via X80 modem)
  • 12GB RAM (future proofing for AI)
  • much better battery life
  • better thermals (summer vacays!)
  • all cameras are 48MP + 4x/8x options are so nice to have vs 3x limit on 15 Pro!
Feels like an iPhone that’ll last for several years without a hitch.

I upgraded now so I can upgrade again for the anniversary. :p

The battery on my iPhone SE3 just wasn't cutting it anymore (3x a day charging).

Battery life on the 17 Pro (physical SIM) is the best battery life I've ever had on a phone. Im getting minimum 60 hours in between charges so far (2 and half days) no joke.

Im a light/medium user, using the cameras regularly on my ragdoll and siberian kittens, online shopping, browsing MR, quora and reddit, watching some u tube, instagram, Whatsapp and imessage etc, but i don't use tick tock or twitter.

I can confirm on all these fronts coming from 15 PM to 17 PM that for me it has been well worth it.
Congratulations and enjoy your new beast!

Edit:
Just to add…one can tell are still optimising towards the A19/A19 Pro, I think the 17 range is going to continue getting a lot better…feels like the hardware upgrades really are Apple preparing the 17 range for a long and amazing run.

Same here, upgraded from PM14 90% battery health to a new 17 base. Battery is better I would say. Overall very happy. Feels like an empty phone sometimes give how heavy was the PM. It disappears in my pockets, literally.

I finally pulled the trigger on a 1TB Dark Blue 17 Pro to replace my 15 Pro Max yesterday. I will now place my 15PM into my iPhone collection along with my original iPhone and iPhone X. It is still a very nice iPhone but the lure of 48 megapixel with all lenses was too much to resist. My new iPhone arrives tomorrow and it should be fun setting up this new iPhone.

I upgraded my wife from an 11 Pro Max to a 17 Pro Max. Needless to say, she's thrilled with it.

We upgraded through Verizon with a free upgrade on her account. I ended up paying $100 (taxes) and that was all. I have 4 lines on Verizon, unlimited everything, and I pay $140/month.

I upgraded from the 15 Pro Max to the 17 Pro Max a week ago. I actually didn't know they increased the Pro Max size from 6.7" to 6.9" last year, so I was a bit surprised when the two phones were next to each other during setup!

I love the phone, except—and I don't know if this is a 17 Pro Max issue or an iOS 26 issue—I hate that the key clicks are now so soft you can barely hear them. Increasing the ringer volume doesn't do anything, and I've searched for a slider to allow me to make the key clicks louder, like they used to be, but can't find one. I hope Apple will do something about this in the next release.

Hello everyone,

I'm thinking about switching from an iPhone 15 Pro Max to a 17 Pro. The 15 Pro Max was often too big for me, but I also often appreciated its size when reading. I currently use it with a back cover, but it still often seems too big for my pocket.

Now I have a question for the community. Who among you has made the switch from the 15 PM to a 17 Pro? What has your experience been after several weeks of use? Do you regret the “downgrade” to a slightly smaller display? Did you then switch to the 17 PM because you couldn't get used to the smaller display?
I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thank you very much!

PS: How's the reception? I read that it's supposed to be much better with the new Qualcomm chip. Is that really the case?

PS-2: Is the Techwoven case the one you should go for? Or is it better to use it without a case, because otherwise it's hardly any smaller than a 15PM without a case?
