I went from Natural Titanium 128GB iPhone 15 Pro to Cosmic Orange 256GB iPhone 17 Pro Max.

I got maximum trade in value on the old phone. It was perfect, pristine condition and even still had the original box, the original receipts and the original bag it came in.

Like the above person, I also wasn't entirely happy with the iPhone 15 Pro battery performance.

For me the camera is good enough for my needs so that's not really a limitation for me.

1 week in and Im actually really liking the Air so far. As I said, the camera is good enough for my needs, the mono speaker is a non issue for my usage, Im finding the battery is serving me slightly better than my 15 Pro did, and Im enjoying how light and thin it is. One handed use is more or less the same as the Pro, better in hand than the Pro in some respects, but a bit worse in others.

I think I will end up keeping it, it actually feels like a "new" phone for me which I haven't felt in a very long time with iPhones.
Well, having said all that I haven decided to go back to the 15Pro. I've been experiencing soreness in my left hand (particularly in my little finger) which Im putting down to the increased size. Have ordered a refurbed pro and am going to return the Air. I know the Pro isn't going to cause hand issues having had one for the last 18 months and Im getting a new battery and outer shell for less than the price of fixing my old pro.

My local Apple Store is going to love me ;)

Just out of dumb luck, I opened up the Apple Store app and saw the regular 17 in the configuration I wanted was available, so I reserved it. I picked it up, but haven't set it up yet. A part of me wants to return it, because my 15 Pro is okay and the white titanium is still a stunner. Plus I have so many cases for 15 Pro. However the battery is at 83% and drops ~12-15% per hour, and that's while it's on wi-fi. Even when it's not doing anything the battery drops by 5%. I'm not even a heavy user. I mainly listen to either the Music app which has my downloaded music, the Podcast app, or YouTube music to listen to 1-2 albums. And the phone does get warm to the point where sometimes I do have to shut it down so it could cool off. And I'm also thinking about trade in value as well because I know once we hit the end of the year the value will drop. I'll set the phone up tomorrow at work (better wi-fi), and use it for a week and then make my final decision.
Loved my normal size 15 Pro. You just gotta get used to charging in the car and having a MagSafe battery pack with you😄

In my case where my 15PM gets hot while on cellular, I am and was on 5G in an area with strong coverage (Vegas)
It's really strange since the only times my 15 Pro heats up is when downloading lots of data usually via tethering. And the bigger Pro Max should be able to handle that heat a bit better than the smaller Pro. So unfortunately I really don't know why it's doing so badly in your situation. If it did that from day one I guess there's nothing to be done about it other than switching phones. If it occured at a later point in time it might be a defect.

It’s consistently ran warm when on cellular and now that it’s about 2 years old, I’m guessing that chip and radio inefficiency are just that much more noticeable given the phone’s age.

I did end up ordering an Air, which I got last night and holy cow it is like others have said, it’s such a svelte device. Feels both light and premium at the same time. Battery life does sort of feel like my grandma’s Buick from 1970, with its 455 cu.in. V8 that when you stepped on it, you could watch the gas gauge go down.

But that is to be expected as apps downloaded and I transferred everything from iCloud. I’ve got just shy of 4 hours of screen time today and I’m at 56% battery remaining, which is fantastic.

I wiped the 15 Pro before doing trade in and even with that the 15 Pro got quite warm.

It is with Apple now. As said before I got maximum trade in value for it so I’m happy with that.

It was visually like a new phone. I kept the box and sticker set though. ;)

I got my 17PM yesterday to replace my 15PM. Again, I was not looking at upgrading but my carrier paid off my remaining $433 that I owed on my 15PM and gave me $1100 trade in credit for it, basically making the 512GB 17PM free after 3 years of bill credits.

I’m only 24 hours into it and like every other time I upgrade there is not much of a difference. Not long enough to tell battery life differences but seems to be better at this time of the day. I also am not noticing the 17 getting hot which my 15 would often do for no observable reason. I did test the camera and I do like the front facing camera, as well as the 4X zoom is a better fit for me than the 5X zoom. Haven’t really noticed any difference with the extra ram in it as well.

Long story short, I am glad to upgrade since it was basically free for me, but if I had to pay I would have continued to use the 15PM without regret.

Just got my Orange 17 Pro Max. Used it only for a little bit and I am happy with the camera upgrades and also love the new Orange color. Happy to have upgraded from 15 Pro Max.

I finally got over to my nearest Apple store to check out the new phones. Since my 15 Pro Max still has a flawless exterior, screen, and 100% battery life remaining, I'm in no hurry to upgrade, but here are my impressions:

17 Pro Max & 17 Pro felt less premium to me due to the aluminum construction and wider camera panel. My 15 PM is about as large and heavy as I’m comfortable with, and I’m still loving the feel and look of the titanium. Next to the these 17s, my 15 looked like a much more expensive device.

The basic 17 Model is really all I need and the colors are better than the Pros, but my preference is for the more rounded edges of the iPhone X design.

The Air was what really got me motivated for the 60-mile drive to get my hands on one compared to my naked 15 PM side-by-side. I grabbed the nearest one on the display and it was 5 minutes before I realized that it was the blue rather than the white one...

I knew that the colors were close but the lighting in the store created the illusion of 3 shades of white: cool, medium, and cream. I’d imagine the difference is more obvious in other environments but in that setting they were so similar that it made me wonder why Apple bothered. Every color is stunning, though.

If I had to replace my 15 PM it would definitely be the Air, but I know I’d miss the 2 extra cameras, and the advantages in weight and thickness over my current phone during my brief session wasn’t enough to make me love my 15 any less… but next year? Looking forward to what’s in store for the revised Air!

So the last time I was here, I was returning my base 17 and I said I was gonna just replace the battery on my 15 Pro. I eventually did do that but before I did that, I played iPhone roulette one more time and I was able to get a 17 Pro in the configuration I wanted. I actually loved that phone a lot. I thought it was going to be too heavy because it weighed the same as the 14 Pro - which was a very heavy phone and it actually hurt my hand and wrist, but the 17 Pro really felt lightweight to me. I was ready to trade in my 15 Pro, but when I went to the Apple store, they told me since I bought the phone online I had to do the trade-in online because the trade in kit already shipped. I videotaped myself packing my 15 Pro up just in case anything happened, and put it in my bag to drop off at FedEx on my way to work in the morning. But I ended up changing my mind that morning and decided to keep my 15 Pro. During my lunch break, I took the 15 pro to the Apple Store and told them I wanted to replace the battery. I went back after work to pick it up and returned the 17 Pro. Now, I have 100% battery again and it’s like I have a new phone.

My wife and I made the mistake of going to an Apple Store that had the phones we wanted in stock (1TB 17 Pro). So… my wife got one. We both liked it so much, I went back and got one too.

First time going to a Pro phone after having the 6+ / Pro Max phones since the 6+ days. Absolutely loving the smaller size. About the same battery life. The heat dissipation is crazy. Phone is noticeably quicker. Love the screen brightness. Reception noticeably better. Loving that it’s a reduction in weight and it feels so much better in the hand.

My wife lucked out and got one of the remaining cases - I’m waiting for mine to be delivered with Amazon (late cuz of the AWS outage yesterday).

Was planning on keeping our 15 Pro Maxes for another few years. If that is your goal - stay out of the Apple Stores. Lol

Went 15PM to Air to 17PM. Really I was hoping for a 17 Plus, figured it would be a nice screen and good value.

15PM had a fairly degraded battery and always thought it just ran hot and ate though battery life. Loved the size and feel of the Air, battery was better then my 15PM but loosing the cameras, worried about battery degradation and just over all value, the 17PM seemed like a better option so switched to my Cosmic 17PM and love it! Battery is insane, screen is awesome, and runs way cooler then the 15PM.

That’s my approach as well.

I intend to get a battery replacement done when my iPhone 15 Pro feels ready for it, when its battery life drops below 80%.

I’m not particularly fond of the scratch issue that’s been happening with the 17 Pro. All the blue and orange colors are just painted on the anodized aluminum. I also already have a friend who had a defective USB-C port on his iPhone 17 PM blue. He wasn’t able to exchange it with AT&T, so I’ve been helping him explore repair options and ruling out causes for liquid damage and cleaning the port.

Hi everyone,

I currently have a 15 Pro Max and am considering switching to the 17 Pro because the 17 Pro Max has become even bigger. But I'm also wondering whether the difference in size between the 17 Pro and Pro Max is that significant. Purely in terms of dimensions, that's not the case. Does the 17 Pro Max feel that much bigger and more unwieldy?

It was for my wife and I. 15 Pro Max was huge and too big. The 17 Pro Max in the store was even heavier. We are loving our 17 Pros. Same size text just a few less lines. Far more enjoyable to hold.

I went from a 15 Pro to a 17 Pro Max. Yeah, it's bigger but not that much bigger, and I got used to it in a couple of days. I don't use iPhones one-handed, though.

I'm loving the battery life.

I have a 15 pro max which is still working flawlessly. It's not prefect but I can wait it out for the folding iPhone. While I like the iPhone 17 pro max, the colors and the lack of silver stainless steel or titanium options are a huge deterrent to me. No interest at all in the air.
