I had a 16gb iPad 1 for 18 months and never came close to running out of space. Went with 16gb LTE this time and I have 12gb free.

I stream music (iTunes Match), movies (Netflix) and tv (Vulkano). YMMV but I have no need to store any of that on my iPad. I do store books but those take up almost no space at all.

I just have to be more choosy in which huge apps to download and I'm not downloading apps, I know I will rarely play. It forces me to keep the apps that I WILL make the most of which is not a bad thing. When I upgrade to the 32GB version in a few months, I will feel more freedom sure but at least now, I won't have any basically useless apps or apps I don't really play or will even finish taking up space.

I was thinking that I might even save more money getting the 16GB because I would think twice before purchasing an app as to whether it's worth the hassle of re-arranging what I have on my ipad. I might spend less time browsing the app store for junk to buy that I will never use and more time enjoying what I have :)

16gb is perfect for me, but again as others have said, I don't put movies on, or music (I have the phone for music!) I also don't have any heavy-hitter apps, but if I do end up getting one or two I will be more than good as I have roughly 10gb of space with 50 or so apps installed currently. Currently I prefer to use Garageband and other types with my Macbook Pro.

If you try it, and don't think you have enough space, just exchange it!.

I find 16GB to be perfectly fine. I stream almost everything to my iPad. I do not put music or podcasts on it (that's what my iPhone is for), and I don't put photos on it either (I never sit around and just flip through my family photos). My iPad is strictly to consume information/data/shows - not store them.

About the only thing I DO store are some Zinio subscriptions and some Kindle books. Not a big deal.

Hi All,

Is anyone struggling with a lack of space who have the 16gb new iPad? I ask because I am getting one soon and have been contemplating. I have a 32 gb iPad 1 that is only using 12.5 GB, add 2gb for the IOS software and the 16 would barely cut it for me if I got it and not allow me to take any video, photos or rent an 1080p movie.

I know iCloud is an option but you still neeto have enough space on your iPad to get the content on it if you need it. At least this is what I understand.

Just wondering hw everybody who has the new 16gb are holding up after a few weeks of use? In know every user is different but...

I decided to get the 16GB 4G and use cloud storage for my files, photos and movies. I am glad I did because in the last 10 days that I own my iPad 3, I have 8GB free, I use 3 cloud storage services with total 16GB of free storage.

It works for me, I do not know if its will work for others who may need to store lots of stuff locally.

By the way, CX.com gives you 10GB FREE storage and works perfectly will many platforms and devices.
