If you work in tech you see 15" MBPs *everywhere* FWIW.
True, but if you leave the tech sector, you see almost no 15" MBPs. Im working for a company that has 200k+ employees and not a single mac is deployed. Obviously, for smarthpones, the iPhone is the standard.

In the scientific community macs are quite popular. I am a theoretical physicist and nearly all of my physicist and mathematician friends and colleagues have macs. I used to have a SiliconGraphics machine during grad school and greatly miss it. However the mac is a good replacement for it as a UNIX workstation. I have VMs for when I need to run Linux (Arch) and sometimes Windows.

Sure, but windows has had a deathgrip on enterprise deploys for general office use for literally decades, that's not exactly new.

If you have satellite tech offices or R&D groups though you might be surprised (My current employer, for ex, at the main office, admin HQ with thousands of employees, is all in on windows, but almost every R&D site and dev office is all Mac. If you worked at HQ you would have the impression that there are no macs, whereas it's actually like half the company on macs, just nearly no-one at HQ)

Also, if you have a design group there's a good chance they're on Macs.

Having the very same mid-2012 MacBook Pro Retina, of which they said for many years it is the best laptop ever made.
BTW, mine is 7 years ;-).

(2019 - 2012 = 7).

But how tempting this 16" is!
Everything seems to be in the right place, issues solved & fixed, listened to the wishes, etc.
The only bad thing about Apple's laptops is they are so damn good: my 2012 MBP still works like a charm, so I guess I can wait for the 2nd version.
True, you are right, but I bought mine somewhere in 2013 so I have been using it for the past 6 years.
