One week ahead of WWDC, Apple has released a new high-end graphics option for the 16-inch MacBook Pro. For an extra $700, the notebook can now be configured with AMD Radeon Pro 5600M graphics with 8GB of HBM2 memory.

Apple says the new 5600M graphics option is up to 75 percent faster than the base 5500M graphics for the 16-inch MacBook Pro, according to TechCrunch.

Apple has also released user-installable SSD storage kits for the latest Mac Pro, with 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB capacities available.

£700 extra for 75% extra graphics performance. Wonder what that’ll do to battery life.

I have the maxed out 16” now mine is the fastest, all I want is upgraded bootcamp drivers that never come out

Depends on if the speed increase was due to a process shrink or not. I get what you mean about battery life though. My 2017 15” MBP gets just over 3 hours on battery if the dGPU is active.

The link to instructions appears to be for a Mac Pro?
That's what the article says it is for.

"Apple is also introducing a user-installable SSD kit for the 2019 Mac Pro with 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB storage modules, with instructions available here."

The problem with the link is that there is no mention of the SSD kits in the instructions. Not that I have a Mac Pro, but the link seems to be incorrect.

Ah sorry. Misread.

The 5600M costs an additional $800 on the base model and $700 on the higher end model.
Which means it isn’t a trivial purchase/BTO option for most users here who are already complaining. The 8GB 5500M is almost a no-brainer buy at this point, but there’s going to have to be some significant gains in relevant apps to make a $700-$800 BTO option relevant for 90% of users.

Where’s all the people claiming Apple is getting ready to dump the new 7,1 MP in lieu of ARM already? Quite a few of you were saying how you felt sorry for us MP buyers and that we were stupid. Doesn’t look like Apple is dumping it to me...
