The 16 inch MBP I use could care less about the GPU.
If you don't do video editing - useless upgrade.

And I am probably the only one preferring to type on my 2018 MBP 15 inch.... I love that keyboard! (except the missing ESC key and the weird arrows layout)

I wonder what these say when you buy them? Do they still say “16 Inch, (2019)” in the about this Mac window? Or would it be considered 2020?

It's the same 2019 model. Nothing changed but the GPU (if you choose to pony up an extra $800). It's like if Apple added an extra memory option...it would still be the same model, just a new config.

Did you have a conversation with your MBP and it said it could care less? :)

Maybe now will update the bootcamp drivers seeing as since launch not one update for gaming

I know it's Radeon Pro 5600M but the numbering is odd considering Radeon RX 5700M has 36 compute units. So this would appear to be at least more powerful, not sure about faster, than a regular PC RX 5700 since it has 40 compute units and HBM2.

Not the update I have hoped for:
  • Intel already launched 10th Gen 14nm Comet Lake-H successor to the 6- and 8-core cpus in April 2020
  • These new processors would have supported faster RAM speeds
  • Compatible WiFi 6 chips for 9th Gen CPUs are available since last year
  • Sorry, but the BTO-option for the Radeon Pro 5600M is too expansive.

This is not an update, its a new BTO option for the GPU, thats it. Apple did the same thing with the MacBook Pro 15", mid-cycle in 2018 (or 2019, forget which) adding 2 new GPU options.
