I feel like it's going to get released when the Mac Pro becomes available.

Were there any rumours about a 13" MacBook Pro with an updated keyboard coming out with the 16"?

Man except for the key separation it’s so darn similar. keys look super low-travel still. Body shape identical. I would bet the redesign is coming with ARM next year but they needed a temp fix for the keyboard issues. REALLY hope it has XDR and a serious graphics card otherwise wtf?
Same backlit keyboard system and same keys dimensions but different press mechanism (scissor) You have to see from a side
So the best from both worlds. Now for the sake of symmetry with the esc key they've placed the power button away from the touchbar

I feel like this 16" isn't going to be as big of an update as people think. It looks really similar to what we already have with the current design. I think they're just trying to create "Pro" premium versions of everything to get a higher starting price. I don't expect anything groundbreaking from this new laptop. It may just come as a press release when the Mac Pro is released.

Seems like it got delayed - why would it be in 10.15 if it weren't originally going to be launched now? Earlier rumors said it would initially have a butterfly keyboard and the scissors keyboard would slowly migrate up from the lowest end laptops until 2021.

I think all people really want is a reliable/better keyboard, escape key back and perhaps the TouchBar being optional and the inverted T arrow keys again, right?

For the most part, the existing machines are pretty great other than those few things (maybe some others?)

Imagine if the rumors are mixed up and the scissor switches are next year and this still has butterfly's under those exactly the same looking keycaps...

😦
That could explain why it seems to have suddenly been delayed/pulled - Apple see all the high expectations and are getting cold feet about disappointing again - need to leak lots of butterfly KB pictures ahead of time to prepare us 😳

;);)

If we don’t hear anything the first week of November, then it’ll probably be next year. We’ve got about two more weeks till the holiday madness kicks in. If there’s a November event, the announcement would be Tomorrow or Friday. They’ll talk about Air Pods sales and the first week or weekend of Apple TV+. Give us possibly a new iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. Maybe there was a delay and they just had to release AirPods Pro. I was hoping to get a new iPad Pro this Christmas. Also preparing to get the new MacBook Pro if Apple deems the 2012 Retina Pro Obsolete in June.

This is actually really disappointing. I feel like the trackpad on the current Macbooks could be 50% smaller, the keyboard could be moved closer to the leading edge and that would free up room for a TouchBar that is 3x as thick -- could have some really interesting uses. As is - it's useless. I never use it. Ever.

This thing is going to be like the original touchbar release. We're gonna get teased for a full year about an "imminent" release before it actually comes out and is full of compromises.

I love the touch bar too. It does make doing certain things a lot easier.

It's not going away. The very fact they introduced it this year into the 13" Pro proves that as far as I am concerned.

The huge trackpad is my issue. My palm always rests on it and I lose content because of it.

There are 31 lines here for the speaker grill...on the 2016-2018 there are 29
So a little bit wider, so confirms the bigger display
Same backlit keyboard system and same keys dimensions but different press mechanism (scissor)

Wait did you just sit there and count them all
