Apple will release a new MacBook Pro with a 16-inch to 16.5-inch display and an all-new design in 2019, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Tonight, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a research note looking at Apple's releases in 2019. MacRumors has obtained a copy of the report and perhaps the most exciting prediction for Mac users is the revelation that Apple is working on a 16"-16.5" MacBook Pro. Unfortunately the report provides few details beyond that it is an "all-new" design, suggesting Apple is revamping their current MacBook Pro design.

A 16"-16.5" screen would be the largest screen Apple has provided on a MacBook Pro since the discontinuation of the 17" MacBook Pro in 2012. Close followers of Apple's MacBook Pro refresh cycle have been expecting Apple to continue with the current design until at least 2020. The MacBook Pro last saw a redesign only two and half years ago.

Kuo also says Apple may add a 32GB RAM option to the 13-inch MacBook Pro, without providing further details.

    More Predictions from Kuo:

    - AirPower and New AirPods Said to Ship in First Half of 2019, New iPod Touch With Faster Processor Also Expected
    - Two New iPad Pro Models, 10.2-Inch iPad, and iPad Mini 5 Said to Launch in 2019
    - 2019 iPhones Can Wirelessly Charge Other Devices, Feature Frosted Glass and Larger Batteries, and More
    - Apple Said to Release 31.6-Inch 6K Display With Mini LED-Like Backlight Design in 2019

Please be true. My 17" Macbook Pro can't last forever. Hopefully it will be a 16.5 incher.

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh it's happening!

I'm sold if it's under $4,000! This will be almost the same as the old MacBook Pro 17's!

It can start at $4000 for all that matters; it should have MagSafe, SD-card slot, 2 USB type A housing for the USB-C ports, two regular full featured USB-C ports, HDMI and an audio-jack.

    And, no bloody Touch Bar!

Good but base on their cycle, it's too soon. They make an all-new design MacBook pro every 4 years. So I doubt they gonna release it in this year.

Wasn't expecting to sit out the entire touchbar generation but this is good news.

It's Ming-Chi Quo so it's got to be right. I'm so stoked for this.

I figured as much as well.

Maybe announcement in November, for 2020 release?

Either that or the current generation isn't selling well, or they really had to redesign the keyboards.

    Whatttttt!

I’ve had every iteration of 15” MBP and I was desperately hoping to sit out any refresh this year as I’m really happy with the 2018.

But, I do long for a bigger display and didn’t see this coming. Will be VERY hard to resist!

I’m sure it will be the “best MacBook ever,” but only a select few will be able to afford it.

If there is a brand new redesign for the Macbook Pro, Consider me a buyer although I imagine the redesign will come in other sizes other than 16 inch.

14-14.5" until 2020, would be my guess. Larger model will get the spotlight first.

Redesign should entail the keyboard and the port situation—just add magsafe back in and at least one usb port and honestly thats good enough for most ppl id say

    All new design...

Unless it has PROPER ports (and multiple ports at that), a keyboard that doesn’t need a condom to work properly, a matte screen, proper heat thermals & actual function keys then they can call it whatever they want to but it certainly won’t be a pro machine or anything close to what true pros want or need.
