16" MBP - Silver or Space Gray?

I've returned to the forums just recently due to being out of work.

I shipped off my iMac to Phobio for Apple Store credit towards a new MacBook Pro purchase. The offer has been accepted as of 4/29 and I'm still waiting for my payment to process.....Ugh.

I was pretty sure going into this that I wanted the silver finish. My last two Macs (13" rMBP and iMac 4K) were both silver finish as well by default and I enjoyed having that classic silver look that has existed since the original 2006 MBP.

But I must admit after reading and watching several reviews, I'm now split on which finish to get. When I see the space gray finish "dark mode" instantly comes to mind.

Thoughts?

EDIT:

I ended up going with classic Silver. I think it matches my home office setup nicely.

Space Gray!

It’s a fresher look and silver’s beginning to look outdated (checked out a few models at the Apple Store, remember when those were open?)

P.S. Hope things end up going well with your career.
 
Depending upon your viewpoint it could be a bit like buying a car. For example, my wife prioritises colour above specification and performance. If so, the decision might be made more difficult if considering a new MacBook Air with a choice of Space Grey, Gold or Silver........

Ahh yes. I picked the worst possible time to upgrade.
 
I went with silver. My wife has a space grey 15". It looks cool. I almost went with space grey but in the end I decided that I liked the higher contrast look of the black keyboard on silver, and decided it just looks like a classic macbook pro. Then I read some of that about the SG scratching easier and that sealed the deal for me.

But I should note that I don't see any scratches on my wife's space grey and its a few years old now.
 
I have tried the silver MacBook 16” - too ”white” for my liking. The old school color was a little darker silver. It was not matching silver housing of my Apple 27” display.
 
Space grey..... and Phobio was pretty quick for me, should have your credit in a couple days
 
SG looks nice in some specific lighting but overall I don't like it. Kind of a dull color. Quite frankly would prefer all-black. Definitely wish I had gone with silver.
 
I have Space Gray 16" and so went with Silver for the 13" I just ordered. The color will make them easy to tell apart.
 
Space Grey is kind of dated to me. It reminds me of all those black/dark grey trends in watches, supercars, and business cards from the early 2010s.
 
Silver is NOT outdated, it’s Classic! It has a classy, elegant look. It glows like subtle moonlight. Plus it seems like everyone has Space Grey now. Be unique! 😎

Space Grey does look sleek in its own way - all Dark Knight mood. It looks more subtle and uniform with the keys not standing out as much. It also doesn't seem to wear well. Scratches and nicks will show the silver underneath (experience from SG iPP). Not sure about discolorations from oil transfer from hands/wrists or general smudges over time, but with Silver, I know I can take a Magic Eraser to it and it will look brand new again.

I bought the space grey because my previous laptop was silver. Since my wife is using the old MBP I wanted to make sure we had different colors, as it is really hard to tell them apart if they're closed. Even if I sold my old MBP, I'd have gone for the space grey, just for the novelty. Chances are my next MBP in a few years will be silver for that very reason.
Anyway I think I'd like the space grey to be a little bit darker
