Im trying to decide which one to get. I have a 15 pro now and never had a ”big” phone. My phone is either at home (watching YouTube, browsing reddit, etc), in the car or at the gym.

I wonder if the 16 pro max is too big or if the bigger 16 pro is enough extra size.

If I go with pro max, I would definitely go caseless to avoid extra bulk, also a new to me.

What are your thoughts, is the experience of a bigger screen worth the added discomfort?

Cases can add a lot of grip which might be a very needed feature with a 'big' phone. Just something to consider.

I am sorta in the same situation. Screensize and battery are obviously king - but the tradeoffs are sort of killing it for me. I store the phone in my pants when traveling and that's rather bulky.

Also - controlling it with 1 hand might not be as convenient as my current 14Pro.

I'm switching from a Pro Max to a Pro for pretty much the same reasons the above poster mentioned.

I'll be upgrading from a 13 Pro Max, so with the improved battery specs and the screen size bump on the 16 Pro, I hopefully won't see a massive difference in experience

Highly recommend the 16 PM for you. It's going to be much better for YouTube and Reddit.

It's also far easier to type on the larger iPhones. The keyboard keys are much bigger and spaced out.

Regarding cases, I stopped using a case with the 15 Plus. Apple has finally given us iPhones that are comfortable in-hand.

I'm also in the gym 6 days a week. I wear compression UA shorts that have a built-in pocket. I don't even notice my iPhone during my workouts.

I am likely going with the Pro not max. I am upgrading from an XR that happens to be about the same screen size as the 16 pro and wouldn't want anything bigger. This is supposed to be a mobile device after all and needs to go in shirt, pants, and bike jersey pockets.

Unless you have really small hands, you won't regret the Max phones. It might take a few days to get used to, but the larger screen size is really nice.

Keep in mind both the 16 pro and 16 pro max did pack on some weight vs. 15P and PM

I dunno if weight distribution has been shuffled up to make it feel the same or even lighter, but there is that.

The 15 cycle is the first time I’ve stuck with a Max and it’s been great. I tried once or twice before but they always seemed to big. (I still have an old mini I swap to when I want something more discrete for formal occasions.)

The one downside I’ve found is that I can’t find running shorts that fit the Max, so I generally just rely on my Apple Watch for LTE while running. In general I prefer that but there are times when I’m traveling that I’d rather run with a phone for safety (and the map). I those cases I resort to using a running belt.

Is the battery life longer in the pro max I’ve pro version?
According to apple, I would get 10 more hours of battery compared to my 15 pro. And that's not even counting the degradation of my 15 pro. It was bad from the start but now it's so bad it's ridiculous.

Nobody mentioned to try it out in the store first:)

Thats why apple has them. If u cant wait till the 16 is offered, try the 15max now. If this already is too big for u forget the even larger 16max

Get the smaller phone, it's a mobile device you carry around all the time, and for the love of #deity, get a (used) iPad to watch YouTube at home!
I actually did get the iPad mini to do just that, but I ended up never using it so I sold it. I prefer one device to do it all.

Yeah I did go and check out the 15 max. It actually didn't feel as uncomfortable as I thought. It's hard to judge the everyday usability in the store though, that's why I posted here.

I remember when my 6 Plus arrived, upgrading from a 5S. I had this feeling of ‘I’ve made a big mistake here’, holding that goddam surfboard iPad mini in my hands. The gold 5S was like a piece of jewellery in comparison.

Got used to the size though, when I got the X it felt too small, and I’ve been on the bigguns ever since.

That first autumn with the 6 Plus was rough though, got a lot of ribbing from friends (“out comes the tablet!”), but within a year or two they were all on ‘team phablet’.

I made the same upgrade but sold it after half a year cos it was too big. Now running a mini for 3 years and still like its size…

The thing that might decide this issue for someone is this: do you literally do everything on your phone? If so, then go big with a Max. But for others like me who prefer the even bigger screens of laptops whilst at home, the regular Pro might make more sense for easier portability. That's where I live on this and that's why I am going with the regular Pro.
