I really love the big phones for their battery life, but thats all. My hands are small, I always have to type with both of my hands because im unable to hold the phone with one hand and type the same time. Now that the Max got even bigger (I am on Plus right now) I will probably go for the normal Pro and hope that the battery life is at least decent enough to make it through a day.

Highly recommend the 16 PM for you. It's going to be much better for YouTube and Reddit.

It's also far easier to type on the larger iPhones. The keyboard keys are much bigger and spaced out.

Regarding cases, I stopped using a case with the 15 Plus. Apple has finally given us iPhones that are comfortable in-hand.

I'm also in the gym 6 days a week. I wear compression UA shorts that have a built-in pocket. I don't even notice my iPhone during my workouts.

I wish I could go case-less but I don't have any other option at the gym other than lanyard case. Those UA shorts look much better than my usual gym attire.

Maybe I’m alone on this, but I’ve never thought the size difference was noticeable. I do maxs. My wife does the standard size. Unless they’re laying side by side, I can’t tell a difference. And I definitely can’t tell a difference when it’s in my pocket.

I have no need or desire to use my iPhone with one hand. I have embraced two handed use and I'm not going back. The easiest/fastest way for me to type on an iPhone keyboard is with two thumbs.

My main device is a 12” iPad Pro, on a mount facing my chair. I mostly read news and ebooks on it. It’s a major hassle getting it in and out of the mount.

i’ve pre-ordered an iPhone 16 Pro Max (AKA “phablet”), so I have a portable device with similar capabilities. It’s not a lot smaller than the iPad Mini my wife used to use.

That's fair and understandable too. I am ofc also very used to typing with two thumbs now and it's really damn fast. But sometimes I wish I could just hold the phone in one hand and type a short message. But my thump is to short. 😅 I know there is this option to move the keyboard to the site but because of the size I really struggle to hold the phone and type at the same time with one hand. Never had that issue with the normal Pro sizes

Same. Haven't done one-handed operation since my Nokia 8210. For typing I use swiftkey. Once you start swiping, you dont go back.

Im trying to decide which one to get. I have a 15 pro now and never had a ”big” phone. My phone is either at home (watching YouTube, browsing reddit, etc), in the car or at the gym.

I wonder if the 16 pro max is too big or if the bigger 16 pro is enough extra size.

If I go with pro max, I would definitely go caseless to avoid extra bulk, also a new to me.

What are your thoughts, is the experience of a bigger screen worth the added discomfort?
Once you use the screen on the Pro Max, you will never want to go back. I believe dealing with a larger phone is well worth the trade off of the bigger screen. I've chosen the larger screen for years.

Caved and ordered a 16 Pro Max. I was contemplating dropping down to a regular 16 Pro, but since I have Display Zoom set to "Larger Text" I decided to stick with the larger phone to maximize readability.

Had the same dilemma.

I have a 14pro. I was really leaning towards the 16 pro, as I like smaller phones and loved the mini, and in addition the base pro is getting a little screen boost (but its barely larger because its all in how tall it is). I have had very large note androids in the past, but I've never had an iphone max.

Ultimately I decided to go with the 16 pro max, because it will give me a huge battery boost over my 14, isn't a huge weight increase from the 14pro with its TI case, and I have been using some map apps for outdoors stuff that would be good to have a larger screen with. If when I get it, its just too damn huge, then I'll just exchange it within the 14 days.

I only got the 15 Pro Max because of the telephoto camera. Now that there’s no difference between the two again (aside from screen size and battery life), I’m getting a 16 Pro.

I mainly use my phones one-handed regardless of size, but the Max is much less comfortable to do so. Luckily, with the battery life increases this year, I shouldn’t notice the slight reduction in battery life going down in size.

Same, well in my case I got it for battery life mostly (15 plus) but I really miss the times of holding a phone comfortably with one hand. So I also go for 16 pro this time. Hopefully the battery life is really better.

Look at my iPhone history. I hated big phones. Once PM sized iPhone was introduced years ago I won't use anything smaller. I hated EV's. Now I drive a 2025 Rivian Gen 2 R1S. In life we as humans get adapted to things easily.

I went ahead and ordered a 16 Pro Max in black. Managed to get it for the 20th too, which obviously is a sign I made the right choice. For the first time in a long while I am actually looking forward to a new experience with iPhones!

I wound up downsizing from the 15pm to the 15p a few months ago

it was a mix of reasons/feelings about wanting to go back to a size that was more easy to handle, I signed up for a half marathon and started running more and found I couldn't easily carry the max with me, whereas the regular pro slips into my shorts liners fairly easily, and finally I am constantly spraining my fingers playing basketball, most recently my left thumb which is what I use most often, and I found stretching my thumb across the screen of the max to type one handed was becoming cumbersome

what I enjoyed was the battery life and the screen size was nice as well. I've adjusted by topping up the battery when needed and the screen size being smaller hasn't been an issue

So I actually don't mind that apple have increased the size of the 16 pro screen slightly as I can enjoy the slightly larger screen size, and the hopefully improved battery life of the 16 pro should bring the smaller pro closer to the larger in terms of what I was missing, while still being a relatively easy to handle phone

Went with the 16 Pro max, no brainer.
Had a 11 Pro max. Seeing 15 Pro [not the max] suffer in batt life for longetivity [i keep my phones 3-4 years]... pushed me. and the 16 Pro max had a huge leap in batt life again so no brainer.

Putting 'features aside' this was most important to me and the phone is fine in my pockets. Not everyone will say the same though [for phone in pockets], I also use my iPhone with two hands. although yes you can use the keyboard compress feature to make it one handed, useful when I'm in my bed on the side haha XD

For me comes down to one handed use. If you want to use it one handed often and don’t have gigantic hands, go Pro. If you don’t mind largely losing one handed use, go PM.
