I know many people upgrade yearly regardless with each new release.

It’s easy to get hyped for a new release and once the dust settles would it really be worth it trading a 16 Pro in for a 17 Pro?!

I got my black titanium 512gb 16 Pro back in June and it’s got to be my favourite iPhone I’ve ever owned.

The 17 Pro rear design changes look good IMO, other than that it has a bigger battery, 48mp telephoto lens and a faster A19 Pro chip amongst other things.

Is any of it standout and worth considering swapping my 16 Pro… we’ll find out soon at the Apple event later

Maybe I’m just looking for people to convince me to stick with the 16 Pro and keep more cash in my pocket 😆🤣

I’m not rich so don’t want to upgrade yearly no matter how enticing 17 Pro is. It’s not like Apple can make their camera lenses 50% larger than last year’s model without sacrificing other features or C1 modem outclasses Qualcomm modem in all regards.

Besides, I prefer letting things truly settled in a bit, for design, internal upgrades if any, and software before joining the bandwagon.

Thanks guys, that’s three against swapping the 16 Pro for the 17 Pro.

I’m not rich either lol so it’s probably stupid even considering doing the swap

Just getting sucked into all the hype making me think I need to upgrade and the 17 Pro will be an innovative masterpiece over the 16 Pro 😆

Currently I don't have the 16 Pro anymore (but I had before) and if the battery is really much better and in my country is the SIM tray hopefully gone I would switch 100%

But my top priority is battery life. Max is to big for my hands, had it in the past. So I'm happy to see improved battery on the small Pro.

Keeping my 16 Pro for now, but I might reconsider this if I’ll get good trade-in deals in December or January. Tempted by larger screen of the Pro Max model, 5k mAh battery, and +50% boot in RAM capacity is nice.

I am not upgrading from the 16 Pro Max, there is no need to. It doesn't feel like I have had the phone a year and I am still waiting for these AI features that were promised last September. Selling my phone to get a slightly different looking iPhone with eseentially the same features would be silly at this point. I will wait until next September and see a slightly bigger jump.

I’m sticking with my 15 pro max, just finished paying it off and i love not having a big phone bill each month.

Not a chance; upgrading yearly is for suckers enthusiasts. Moving from the 13 Pro to my 16 Pro was, aside from usb-c, the most lateral and boring upgrade I've done, and I don't expect this one to be any different.

Additionally, this year Pros are ugly as sin.

No chance. Not since the iPhone 11, when I finally stopped doing yearly upgrades. I even regret ( a little) moving from iPhone 14 to 16.

I'd like to wait until Apple release a foldable phone. Given how much I use my phone I think that'll be a worthwhile upgrade.

I am upgrading. I upgrade every year. My thought process is, I use my phone everyday. It’s my most used electronic. I take a ton of pictures for my family, and i just enjoy having the newest thing. Giving my phone back for half the price of the new one doesn’t bother me. I work hard enough to spend 600-800 dollars once a year on a phone. The only thing I’d like to add is, if I saw the future and realized how bad the 15-16 update was, I would have kept my 15 until this year. But at least it gives me a few hundred dollars more in trade in value.

The rumours aren't exactly suggesting the update is significant between the 16 to 17 this year either btw. My wife is thinking about upgrading her 14 Pro, but its also still a really good phone with a really good camera. I know people see it as a negative but isn't it the best scenario to have smaller updates to encourage more people to keep their phones longer?

With a 14 ProMax and anticipated $1000 ATT trade in credit - it's a no brainer. This is the longest I've ever had an iPhone, but never saw the need. Unlike the old days when each year brought a new form factor.

Sticking with the iPhone 16 Pro, been running the iOS 26 Public release, battery still at 100% I see no reason to upgrade. I'll wait till the 18 or 19 to upgrade perhaps.
