I am sticking to my 16 Pro. The main and ultra cameras are exactly the same. The selfie cam will probably be about the same for close up selfies. Only the telephoto is a lot better but it is not worth upgrading for.

I will be trading my 16 Pro in:
- I'm on the IUP so I usually do so
- My 16 Pro has some screen scuffs from when my dog pulled on the leash and the phone took a tumble on some concrete, I'll be glad to be rid of these small scuffs
- My 16 Pro has pretty poor cellular service at my work (which has bad service to begin with). I'm hoping the 17 Pro with its new antenna redesign improves on this.

I know many people upgrade yearly regardless with each new release.

It’s easy to get hyped for a new release and once the dust settles would it really be worth it trading a 16 Pro in for a 17 Pro?!

I got my black titanium 512gb 16 Pro back in June and it’s got to be my favourite iPhone I’ve ever owned.

The 17 Pro rear design changes look good IMO, other than that it has a bigger battery, 48mp telephoto lens and a faster A19 Pro chip amongst other things.

Is any of it standout and worth considering swapping my 16 Pro… we’ll find out soon at the Apple event later

Maybe I’m just looking for people to convince me to stick with the 16 Pro and keep more cash in my pocket 😆🤣

I'm debating whether to upgrade as well. However, in your case, you got the 16 pro max 3 months ago?? For that reason alone, you shouldn't upgrade unless you have money to burn.

Visually, I think the 16 pro looks considerably nicer than the 17 pro. All glass back, clear camera bump, and titanium frame *chefs kiss*. Now I might get this orange aluminum slab that I'll probably get tired of looking at in a week lol.

I just made my 12th payment today. It’s really really difficult not to upgrade and drop my bill by $4 a month.

That orange is just. I want to, to be different. But I also don’t want to, because it’s really not me.

I’ll end up getting the dark blue one most likely.

I’m definitely sticking with the 16 Pro Max. Annual upgrades aren’t worth it for quite some time now.

Could not find a good enough trade in value to validate going from 16 PM to 17 PM. Apple credit is 700 but the new device being 1199 would make it a $500 upgrade cost which IMO is not worth it this year. At least that's what I keep telling myself. I will be getting the Airpod Pro 3's

Tim Apple's color palette this year for the 17 Pro's along with what I find to be a rather odd two-tone effect on the back means I'll probably just skip it. It really seems like they are pushing people subconciously to try the Air.

Maybe later in the year when discounts start popping up.

Not upgrading. There isn't enough there. If the trade in had been higher then I would have considered it, but I am still looking at over $500 after trade in. Doesn't seem worth it for a better battery, selfie cam, and telephoto camera. Sure it has more RAM and a faster processor, but I don't do anything that pushes the 16P processor or uses that much RAM. By the time I do, the 18s will be out which will have everything the 17 does plus more.

Someone going from 16 Pro to 17 non-pro?
Is so much lighter.
The 17 pro a bit heavier then the old one.
I have a 16 Pro 256 along with an old 13 "backup" phone. I'm doing the free upgrade of the 13 to the base 17 and was thinking similar....do I keep the 16 Pro as my primary (only real advantage is the camera) or make the 16 Pro the backup and use the base 17 (lighter, same screen now with little better brightness, better battery life, better front camera, etc).

1. Better Cameras Dual Recording
2. 40% better sustainable performance
3. 12GB Faster RAM vs 8GB RAM
4. WiFi 7 is a must have.
5. New Neural GPU Cores
6. Upgraded battery very significant

I am! I currently have a 16 PM & while I love it, it's definitely too big. I didn't really love the design or colors for the pros this year. Also, feels like you are getting a lot on the base model for the money. Plus, with my trade-in, it will be paid off in no time.

I’m one of the guys who updates every year , I figure it’s my most used electronic device , might as well keep it updated. This year I was going to skip for the first time probably ever. The only reason I’m considering the new one is for the cooling features, (vapor chamber, processor, aluminum chassis etc.) my iPhone 16 pro max is constantly overheating. I’m outside a lot all summer and it’s constantly throttling down or shutting off due to heat.

I’m upgrading only because iOS 26 is a space hog and I don’t even have enough space anymore on my iPhone 16 pro 128gb.

I will be upgrading my 16 Pro Max. The WiFi 7 on it is half-baked and only supports 160MHz instead of full featured 320MHz support so hopefully this new N1 chip on the 17 Pro/Max fixes that.

Even though I'm a tech enthusiast, I don't upgrade often. I got a great deal on a new 16 Pro Max back in May for $900, and I'll continue using that for the 3 to 5 years or if I get the upgrade itch, whichever comes first.

Yep alone for the battery life, if it's really much better, it's worth it. Plus it's lighter now. And I honestly only got the Pro models always for the 120hz and better battery life. But this time the base 17 has only 1 hours less than the 17 Pro. Which is not worth the immense extra costs for me.

16 Pro Max and still undecided about 17 Pro Max or Air.
Will decide when I see the Air in person.

Since the 17 Pro Max doesn’t actually have true 8x optical zoom (just a digital crop from 4x), and the EU/UK models also lose about 2 hours of battery life due to the physical SIM, the Air starts to look more appealing.

Just getting sucked into all the hype making me think I need to upgrade and the 17 Pro will be an innovative masterpiece over the 16 Pro 😆
That feeling lasts for exactly three hours (upon unboxing the new phone) before the novelty wears off and you realise it’s just a thick slab just like last year.
Only model that is catching my eye this year is the Air, however that’s because I’m constantly struggling with the heft of the 16PM
