Thanks guys, that’s three against swapping the 16 Pro for the 17 Pro.

I’m not rich either lol so it’s probably stupid even considering doing the swap

Just getting sucked into all the hype making me think I need to upgrade and the 17 Pro will be an innovative masterpiece over the 16 Pro 😆
I only upgrade from 15 PM (that I already sold) to 17 PM because of the battery !!!

I know many people upgrade yearly regardless with each new release.

It’s easy to get hyped for a new release and once the dust settles would it really be worth it trading a 16 Pro in for a 17 Pro?!

I got my black titanium 512gb 16 Pro back in June and it’s got to be my favourite iPhone I’ve ever owned.

The 17 Pro rear design changes look good IMO, other than that it has a bigger battery, 48mp telephoto lens and a faster A19 Pro chip amongst other things.

Is any of it standout and worth considering swapping my 16 Pro… we’ll find out soon at the Apple event later

Maybe I’m just looking for people to convince me to stick with the 16 Pro and keep more cash in my pocket 😆🤣
Shoulda done a vote brah

I am, but only because I sold my 16 pro and got a pixel instead. I love the pixel software, it is way better than iOS, but there's hardware issues, so coming back to the darkside.
I have last year's Pixel Pro for the fantastic camera, but I also LOVED the gorgeous screen. I don't know what Android does or rather what Apple doesn't do with their displays, because I have tried to duplicate the screen settings on my iPhones and they just don't measure up, but we can't have everything. I also had countless problems with Android and came back to the "dark side" with the purple iPhone 12. The rest of history. I'm hooked. I'm the proverbial fanboy. I'm too vested to ever go back.

I don't see why I would buy another Pro phone again. The 16 Pro is my first Pro phone and I absolutely hate how heavy this phone is. 7 ounces for a 6.3" phone is horrible (for reference I could buy a Samsung s25 with 6.2" display weighing only 5.7 ounces which is looking better and better to me). So, unless the 17 Pro drops down to 6 ounces or less its a hard pass for me.

If you only got your 16 pro in June (I hope it was a ture need to get it then, otherwise you should have just waited til now and this conversation wouldnt be happening) then I'd say dont bother upgrading. For me though its been a release day tradition for over 10 years now. Just hope i like the shade of orange theyve chosen

I’ll be making the switch. I’ve been on the iPhone upgrade program since it came out, as I always enjoy getting the latest stuff and always having a fresh battery. I use my phone more than almost any other thing I own, so it’s worth it to me to spend a bit of extra money to always have the latest and greatest

100% agree. The extra weight for someone who isn't a pro (myself included, along with the other 98% of owners) is just asinine.

I upgraded last year from 13 to 16 (both Pro Max) and I almost feel I should have waited even longer to upgrade. So this time I do not feel it would ve worth it. The upgrades are just incremental.

PS. I do hope there will be either no orange or ugly orange color because I love orange colored tech. 😅

I like any colored tech, not all these same muted tones year after year or 50 shades of gray. Tech workers in Cupertino must have an above average problem with color blindness.

Tempted but I might just wait until next year to see what Samsung comes out with S26 ultra (I have both iOS and Android phones)

I don't typically upgrade yearly. And it doesn't even look appealing to. What I'm trying to figure out is if it might make sense financially.

I typically upgrade after 3 years, I have an iPhone 16 Pro 256GB. After tax was $1,303.91.
If I keep it for 3 years cost per year is $434.64, not accounting for trade in.

If with trade in for my 16 Pro, my cost is less then, or about $450 I'll upgrade.

I had had the iPhone Pro 13 for four full years, with a battery level of 88%. I planned to go 1-2 years more before upgrading. Verizon suddenly offered $1000 for a trade-in for the iPhone 16 Pro. With accumulated Verizon "dollars", the transaction, including all fees, cost me $5. I figured a new battery would cost $100, so at worst, I have a new battery for $5.
What I found was that the audio quality was much superior to the 13, battery life had improved significantly, and the system was noticeably faster (not a big deal, since the 13 was plenty fast).
I'm hard of hearing, so the improved audio for calls, music, and TV streaming was just what the audiologist should have ordered.
A fantastic deal for an excellent phone, but would the lower trade-in value of the 13 for a new 17 have made the difference worth paying? Unless I hear that there has been another leap in audio quality, I will be letting well enough alone.
