Yep and I've only installed minimal apps, podcasts (I would like to have more, but usually don't install a ton) and now have 8.5. That can easily go down to - let's say - 5GB in a heartbeat. This definitely makes me uncomfortable.

mine said 9GB?

In your spare time. If you feel like it I would recommend that you fully erase your iPhone and check out the base storage before installing anything. The default apps shouldn't have taken up 7GB.

EDIT: Sorry, after checking my iPhone 6 Plus with 64GB I see in the About section that it says " Capacity 55.6GB, so yeah, after the default apps I can see how you ended up with only 9GB. I defintely understand due to the algorithm storage calculations are never what they are advertised as but they should be. It's ridiculous too because built-in non-removable apps (not counting the OS) should not be counted towards the advertised storage amount.

BTW, you may be able to delete 2GB of stuff off your 16GB phone. Apple now includes GarageBand, Keynote, Numbers, Pages, iMovie, etc. These are all huge.

Delete the ones you won't ever use. I recovered 2.5GB of space in about 60 seconds. :D

IF you go to Settings - General - Usage - Manage Storage, Apple lists your programs Largest to Smallest. If you see a couple of big ones near the top that you don't use, delete away.

look , go with the 128gb 6 , i was choosing between 64gb 6 or 16gb 6+ , then i realized if i don't have memory how will i be able to enjoy the movies & apps that are made to utilize the 6+ 's display , plus 2 years of possible music and apps and i would have to delete way to much stuff , the 6 isn't bad , and memory gives me the freedom to download what ever i want lol

i dont have these apps, it says used 4,4GB available 7,4GB. I counted all apps and pictures etc.. together and i get 2,6GB. How is that possible? IOS has 1100MB, i have 700MB videos and pictures and 500MB navigation apps and 5-6 smaller sized apps that equals to 2,6GB. Why it says 4,4 GB is used? This thing comes with 11GB which is horrible and the 1100MB IOS8 are not even counted in. That means it comes with 10GB of usable space. Then i added another 1.6GB of apps and videos and it says 7,4GB left?
This thing eats storage memory for breakfast i guess

I checked online and it said a store in Manhattan had a 128GB 6+. I called them and they confirmed, when I went in the store, they looked on their phones and said looks like they have it. Then they checked, and NOTHING. This is frustrating. Gonna try tomorrow morning to go early and see if 6+ phones came in overnight. 64 or 128 I don't care. I just feel like this 6+ eats memory up just sitting around for no reason. I'll do nothing but browse and go on FB/Instagram but no app downloads or picture taking yet I'll check and it'll go down 0.1MB for no reason. Might just say the hell with it and go for the 128 or 64GB 6. Love the 6+ but this is frustrating. 16GB simply isn't cutting it. Crappy mistake on my part.

It would really hurt to give up the 6+. I'll get the 128GB at this point, I don't care.

16GB is terrible. I dont even know why Apple made these phones in 16GB capacity anymore. I'm not sure what the better compromise is for me, the storage or the screen/battery life of the 6+

im in similar situation , i want a 6+ , but i can only afford the 16gb , but i have a 64gb iPhone 6 , so whats better 64gb 6 or 16gb 6+

Yea it's a tough decision. The 6+ isn't as easy to use while trying to walk in a crowded street or for other one handed use but you get used to it and adapt to it so it really doesn't bother me. I have almost dropped it tho several times. I don't have the biggest hands. But still love it. I don't know what to do lol

I thought my budget was $299 too but suddenly I magically found money once I wasn't happy with 16GB lol

The Plus is amazing. But 16GB isn't amazing at all. That's my dilemma too. Lol. Not sure what the better compromise is.

I know there have been many threads before asking about peoples' choices but I need advice. I appreciate anyone who can help.

I have a 16GB 6+. I don't keep much music/photos/videos/apps on my phone. I use my phone for lots of use with wifi, whether it be streaming videos/movies/live TV, web browsing, social media posting, etc. But this time around, it seems 16GB just isn't enough for the simple fact that iOS8 takes up so much space already right out the box, and I fear that subsequent updates will too, making space a HUGE problem.

I have until Friday to exchange my phone. 6+ stock here in NYC is limited. I have found stores that have it, and then try to get there in time only for it not to be in stock when I do. I can't reserve one online, or put on hold in the store with the exchange process and have to basically just get lucky.

I can get an iPhone 6 128GB pretty easily, but LOVE the screen and battery life on the 6+. I feel like I'm not going to find a 6+ in 64GB or 128GB so I'm not sure what to do. Keep my 16GB or get a 6 in 128GB. Thoughts?

Totally do the return for the 6. No question about it.

sometimes I feel like I should and then I use my 6+ and I'm like what am I thinking...16GB is such trash tho smh

I'm leaning towards a 128GB 6. Unless I find the 6+ in 64 or 128. It's crazy but every single person I showed the 6+ at this bbq I went to today basically was laughing at me and were making jokes about how big the phone is. Not that I care what people think at all but I was surprised I was the only one who actually liked it. The 6+ is great and love it but I'm really starting to think it's impractical for everyday use in a big city and with two kids under 5, and the need to be able to use a phone one-handed. I don't know. LOL.

if you have two kids under 5 , i would definitely get a sturdy case if you plan on keeping it , cause since its bigger it has a higher chance of it being dropped , and yea one handed use is practically impossible unless your either are a finger acrobat or have shaq hands

The OP said he doesn't keep much music, photos or videos on his phone so it makes no sense to downgrade to the 4.7" iPhone 6 just because it has more storage he won't even use.
OP, by downgrading to the 4.7" iPhone 6 from the 6 Plus you're giving up battery life, 1080 screen resolution, optical image stabilization, landscape mode on desktop and enhanced landscape mode for email and iMessage, and of course the larger screen.

For me after I received my 6Plus I went to the Apple Store and saw the 4.7" iPhone 6. It was like night and day. It feels too small and not much of an upgrade from the 5S. If anything try harder and look for a 64GB 6 Plus.

These phones aren't downgrades. Im sorry but they're not.

They are the 2014 flagship devices. Both of them. The iPhone 6 is the immediate successor to the iPhone 5s. The 6 Plus is hopefully the start of a new product line for Apple.

And I already know you're gonna come back with the specs of the iPhone 6+. IDC about specs if I did I wouldn't have an iPhone ... Would I??

The 6 and the 6+ have the same hardware running them. The 6+ has a bigger screen, a bigger battery and OIS (which has shown in camera tests the 6 takes just as good pics). Oh and the 6+ has 1080p but both screens look great in person.

So OP, do what you think you should do. If you go to the 6 you won't be downgrading. It's not like the 5s vs 5c.

Honestly people should stop with the 5s vs 5c BS AND THE 6 vs 6+

True. Yeah I have a clear Insignia case on this 6+ right now. Almost dropped it several times but I must have cat-like reflexes, LOL. And Applecare+ is a must with this phone.

I'll figure it out. Thanks for the input everyone. If anyone else has input, by all means do share. It is helping me decide...if I had a gun to my head right now it would be the 128GB 6 over the 16GB 6+ but my ideal situation is the 64GB OR 128GB 6+.

I have a 128GB iPhone 6 reserved, gotta pick up by end of day if I want it. Still trying to decide if I wanna keep my 16GB 6+ or get the 128 regular 6. No dice finding 6+ phones of any capacity higher than 16GB and I won't have time to do this during the work week so I guess I'm making a decision today. Still torn, idk. 128GB 6 or keep the 16GB 6+

You're going to be doing an exchange right? When you reserved the 128GB on their site, did you have to put in your credit card info, and if you did, does it charge the card right away?

I've been meaning to secure an iPhone for exchange on the site, I guess I would be doing it as a "New Line" during the reservation process but once I get there I'll tell them it's actually an exchange?
