32GB just because for the £100 more its not a lot over the year

plus looking on eBay UK, 16GB sell for more than £100 more than 8GBs

I pondered this in the shop!
Ended up going for 32gb as I can put more of my music on it and when nav apps come out with local maps on it I will want to be able to keep it on the Iphone and not worry about it leaving no room for anything else.
Even taking that into account I may have been able to get away with 16gb, but I'd rather go up a size and not worry. Just me though.

32 all the way. But this is coming from a guy who was set to get a 3G last year at this time but was so ticked they didn't bump it up to 32 GB then that I decided to wait and keep using my cell phone / iPod Touch combo (I'm getting a black 32 GB iPhone today).

My iTunes library is 53.38 GB and my iPhoto library is ~15 GB. And that's with very little video. What I could really use is a 64 GB model, but 32 GB will be 'good enough' for now...

32GB no question about it.

My music collection is well over 135GB's, about 22k songs.
My video collection is pushing 300GB's (TV shows, movies, concerts) and growing
My photo collection (the jpeg versions) are about 20GB's.

I'm a digital media addict.

Or you can show self restraint and not download every single song you've ever heard, ever. I'm only going to put song I really really really want to listen to on my phone. Remember, its just a phone.

Sure, Ill take some videos of my gf or kitty, but Ill just save them to my computer, then free some space. Sure Ill put some podcasts on there, but when im done ill take them off and free some space. This song is great! This song is wearing on my nerves. Ill take it off and free some space.

Not every kb of digital enterainment you own needs to go on your phone.

i want everything i own on my iPhone... all 6 seasons of family guy and every song! all 3 x-men movies AND the dark knight. never know when you'll need a quick laugh so i have daniel tosh's "true stories i made up" video on there too. nothing wrong with putting everything on there.

you're my hero! I bet you have it all perfectly organized too. i have trouble keeping my 5,000 songs in order!:D

lol. I miss my 80GB iPod sometimes.

And yes, everything is perfectly tagged. And all media has particular order of folders.

I'm sick I know. I have OCD.

I got the 32GB. Above all, space is my primary need. I came to the iPhone from a 40GB iPod, and that iPod was nearly full. It was an incredibly pain to have to go back and prune my collection so that it would fit on my iPhone.

With 32GB, I'll have just about all the space I need... for now :)

I went with the 32G, as of today 16G would do just fine, but if I take the time to import half of my CD's I may go over. Let's not even talk about videos.

Besides, since I'm willingly locking my self into a 2-year contract, it just makes since to get the biggest offering. I imagine my media will double or even triple in size by then.

For those getting the 16gb, you gotta think long term, not short term. Fight to get that extra $100 if you need to.

wish I had gotten the 16gb

After a few days, and this isn't an indication of satisfaction at all, I wish I had gotten the 16gb phone.

I just don't think I'll use the extra 16GB in the 32MB, and I could have saved about 110$ in the process.

I don't think I'll need the 32gb, even though, I could just sync EVERYTHING I have to it.

32gb

Unfortunately I lost my iPod Touch earlier this year, so I'm going to replace that by upgrading to a 32GB 3G S. I love my 3G but it only holds a small percentage of my music library. I almost went to buy a new Touch before I even thought about the upgrade. Should be able to sell my 3G (16gb) easily enough.

Anyone know the website that buys electronics for cash? I've seen it mentioned here before.

Would it be so hard for Apple to increase the storage space to 80GB or maybe 100GB? I love carrying around all of my music on my iPod 80GB. If the iPhone had enough space, I wouldn't need my iPod anymore. I could finally just have one device that does it all. Would the iPhone really be that much more thicker, heavier and expensive to create if they bumped up the storage? I would gladly pay extra for an iPhone 3GS 80GB. I forsee us having something that big eventually, but it looks like we have to wait at least another year to get a little closer. This is one case where I feel annoyed that the developers are catering to the common user who only has a small amount of media. Surely there are plenty of folks out there like myself that have over 50GB of media they'd like to carry around with them...

Went with 16GB. Decided that $100 could be used for more constructive things, like rent and utilities.

I have a feeling that some people don't understand the meaning of a dollar. Just because you* CAN get double the memory for $100 doesn't mean you HAVE to. Its called self control.

*If you are offended by this comment, its directed at you. People who made their decision based on logic, fiancial ability, and needs over being trendy and looking cool with their extra 16GB won't be offfended.

i have a lot of free space on my 16 gig but its hard to judge with the 3GS because of the video recording and new apps like tomtom

I asked a similiar question last week. Thought about it for a couple of days. Ordered 32 G yesterday. Although I'm only using a couple of gigs now on my ipod touch 16 G, I don't want to run out of space if I travel & take photos & videos. Too much is better than too little:).

Personally, I'd get the 32GB one - I find it a real struggle to keep media organised on my 16GB (I like to watch movies and TV programs on it), and the increased size would be the one compelling reason I'd get a new 3GS: Unfortunately, I can't afford one at the moment :(

32gig...why not...it's $100 dollars more...not going to sell myself short....don't want to think about I wish I would go for the 32gig and etc....

Of course it's only if you can afford it....if you can't...you shouldn't be getting an iphone in the first place....

I don't know that I need 32 gig, but I could afford it so I got it. If my wife upgrades though, she never uses the iPod portion so honestly 4 gig would be enough for her.
